Hi. It is the first time I and my wife participate in LD. It was a good new challenging experience.

Playing different game in LD31 I came up with some interesting thoughts. When we were making our game Turn a cave! we concentrated on some new and interesting game mechanics. I noticed, that lots of developers do it in a similar way, trying to discovery new mechanics, interesting gameplay features or present well known mechanics in an unusual way.
~~Check out here, what we’ve done!~~
But some developers go another way. They are not so concentrated on gameplayer, but try to share story and mood. They are creating game with deep emotional or intellectual experience. I’m talking about games like Lost Path.

(I hope louis.denizet won’t mind I’ll speak about his game)
Lost path is brilliant example of emotional game. And I notice, that playing and winning games of this type give me much more mental pleasure, then games with interesting and even brilliant mechanics. It’s all because of emotional involvement in the process.
So I came up with the question, what is more important. What makes us feel pleasure of playing videogames? I’m speaking about not only jam games, but about game industry at all. Or saying more philosophical, what is primary: form or content? Please, share your opinion, I’am really interested in the view of community on this question.
Personally I think, good game should find a golden mean between this categories. But content is the primary thing, that makes me feel that a game is awesome.
