Grandpa’s Grid

We’ve finished our first Ludum Dare Jam game!

Grandpa's Grid

Grandpa’s Grid tells the story of two sisters forced to spend the weekend at their grandfather’s house. Unfortunately it’s a rainy day, so they can’t play outside. They scrounge around for anything in the house to keep themselves occupied, but all they find is a piece of grid paper and some writing utensils. They begin to play Tic Tac Toe, but of course that only lasts 5 stalemates before they start adding rules to make the game more interesting. The resulting game was unrecognizable from Tic Tac Toe.

Help Tiffany get to the end of Jessica’s maze, but be careful because the further you get into the maze, the harder Jessica will make it! We hope you like it!

No Grapes

Hey Everyone! It’s the boys of No Grapes Games, here to participate in another Ludum Dare! We have a great game in store this time, and we can’t wait to show it to you! In the meantime, here’s a little info about the tech we’re using. Unity 5, Paint Tool Sai, Microsoft Word, and Music Maker Jam! We obviously still have a loooong way to go, but we look forward to sharing bits and pieces of our development process as the game shapes up! For now, here’s a picture of our protagonist, Allison! And a sample of one of our songs!allison comcept

One day down!

Well, one day down, and we’re making very good progress! We’ve got 1/3 of the background art done. We don’t want to get into it yet, but we have a very solid gameplay design (we think) and now it’s just pounding out content. So the next day will be more art, more AI programming, more story, and more fun!  For now, here’s a little sample of the background.

It looks like the game takes place in a house? Stay tuned!

The Four Forms of Tanya Titor

Titorforms
As with our other games, “Tanya Titor and the Time Twister” has a somewhat ridiculous premise. And, as with our other games, we like to support the premise, ridiculous though it may be, with some narrative.

In this game, Tanya Titor is a girl on a field trip to a history museum. She sneaks away from her group, and into a display of ancient Egyptian artifacts, where she accidentally releases Chronohotep, the God of Time.

Chronohotep promptly unleashes a Time Twister, which sucks her up! She is now trapped in a swirling vortex of time, where time is free to flow however Chronohotep pleases. She grows older, and younger, all-the-while fending off hostile critters from throughout time and space in hopes that she will be able to escape the time twister!

So you’ll get to see Tanya at four different stages of her life, and each will wield a different weapon against the forces of the past present and future!

Since “Tanya Titor and the Time Twister” uses the concept of time twisting as an integral mechanic, the enemies come from all across time! Here is an example!

So far so good! But there is still much work to be done!

Submitted!

Tanya Titor and the Time Twister – Play it here!

Tanya Titor and the Time Twister is a game about a girl trapped in a “time twister,” a swirling vortex in which time flows at the whim of Chronohotep, the Egyptian God of time. Chronohotep’s minions will sap Tanya’s life force, causing her to grow old, and eventually die, but magical hourglasses turn back the clock and restore her youth, so collect them when you can! Only you can help Tanya fight back and escape from the Time Twister!

We hope you like it, and thank you for playing! Looking forward to trying everyone’s submissions. But first… SLEEP!

So we “finished” our game in time. What does that mean? Well, we’re proud of the game we released. We feel it was a very good entry for Ludum Dare. And we hope you are enjoying it! But we still have many additions and modifications we would like to make before it is “complete” in our eyes. Which I suppose is the point of Ludum Dare: make a game that can is a starting point that can be iterated on to make something even better and really worthwhile. And we hope to make a game that will be truly worthwhile.

We learned a lot from our last Ludum Dare. This time we kept our goals within reach, and aimed for a game that was both fun to play and also exhibited our personality. We like to make games that are big on personality, and also fun to play, and with Tanya Titor, we think we reached a good balance between the two. But there are still a few sticking points for us. For instance, we would like to make more enemy types, and more weapons. And we would like the game to have an ending. And all these things are in the cards for future versions of Tanya Titor and the Time Twister.

But we are very proud of what we have achieved, and hope you agree it is fun as well!
