“Snape” Postmortem

Snape is a simple Unity game involving rolling balls knocking into each other. This is the first game jam where I can confidently say that I’m very happy with the finished product; I didn’t run into any major snags in the development process, everyone who I playtested with appeared to have a lot of fun. My roommate even continued to play it after the competition was over!

I’m definitely going to continue development of this game. The largest recommendation I’ve gotten from everyone is to add multiplayer, so I think I’m going to try to turn it into a casual, local multiplayer, “Mario Party” style game for entertainment centers (think Big Picture). In the meantime though, the game is still being voted on, so rate it here!

In for LD #28

I’m in for LD 28!

I’ve wanted to get away from using Unity for a little while now. I shopped around for a new engine, and really liked HaxeFlixel; unfortunately, I had problems with it (documentation), so I’ve learned Flixel in the past week or two here and I’m feeling comfortable with it. I’ve had a lot of ideas for really complex 2D games lately, so I think of Flixel as a great prototyping tool and stepping stone to rolling my own tech.

Here’s the list of tools that I’m using:

  • Engine: Flixel (+ Nape physics, if needed)
  • IDE: FlashDevelop
  • Sound: bfxr + Audiotool
  • Art: Procreate
  • Hosting: Heroku + Harp js
  • Timelapse: Chronolapse

Good luck to all!

Party time

I’m in. My main goal for this compo is to strictly only use C# with Unity. I’ve been a Unity developer for years, but I’ve only used Javascript and I’ve begun to run into technical limitations.

Tool list:

  • Engine: Unity
  • Editor: Sublime, most likely with Vintageous
  • Art: Procreate for iPad
  • Sound: Bfxr, audacity, whatever samples aren’t too outrageous
  • Timelapse: Chronolapse
  • Version control: Git, Github
  • Sustenance: Tomato soup, crusty bread, chai, lots of fruit
  • Working music: Beatbuddy Soundtrack on endless repeat

That’s all I can think of for now. Best of luck to all entrants!
