Ludum Dare 47

Hello Ludum Dare!

So here we are, my first LDJam. I'm curious to see how I will manage. Read a lot about "the theme" in advance, but man... this is seriously tough ;) Anyway, after having brainstormed last night for quite a while, let's see if I can turn these ideas into something, learn a lot and have fun while doing so :) Best of luck to all of you!

Level coming together

So whether this will become a game in the end or not... at least this guy now has a looping level to walk around in 😆 - Thx to the newly discovered sprite shapes, I was able to add colliders (red color here), keeping the player inside the loop area. LoopemLevel/emScreenshot.png

Where I got to, so far

At the end of Day 2 I am quite happy. I had 3 goals going into my first LDJam: learn stuff, have fun, create a game. Still not sure whether the 3rd will come true, but the other two definitively have 😊 And despite little XP and lots of stuff going on IRL, I managed to give this guy a loopy level section with a few enemies chasing after devemgif/emld47_001.gif

Stuck in the Loop Dungeon - Link Fixed

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/stuck-in-the-loop-dungeon

Being a newbie, there was so much to learn for me with this LD47, basically in all game dev & design domains. Whether it was working with the theme, scaling the game idea, coding, sketching, or simply using tools correctly. In the end I "failed" at publishing the game on itch.io correctly... one button... just one button that I got "wrong"!!1! ;)

Thanks to everybody who wanted to play it so far and made me aware of this issue: @asemic @no-grapes-games @snowinn @maytch @mosegames @arzi @wujood @comicsans, thank you so much! And thanks to all LD participants, this event is hugely inspirational to me, can't wait for the next one.

I know there are tons to do better and I am looking forward to doing so by learning from your feedback and with further practice. Take care everybody :)

Ludum Dare 48

LD48 already?!

All of a sudden, it’s the last day before Ludum Dare 48. How did this happen?!

Of course, I had such big plans to create a post mortem version of last jam’s game [https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/47/stuck-in-the-loop-dungeon], which was my first entry. But, as with many things you’re inexperienced with, it seems I miscalculated that just a tiny little bit…

Anyway, looking back, I also had lot’s of chances to practice game dev skills in the meantime.

So, the plan is this: I’ll take all the great feedback I received during LD47 (thank you again!), all the big plans I had for the post mortem version, as well as the stuff I worked on since then and… simply use those as a starting point for the upcoming jam. How about that, sounds ok? Yeah, at least I think it does!

Good luck everyone for LD48! LD47_lookback.png

Not this time

Alright, have to be realistic here, there's simply no way I'll create or commit anything this time. Quite a shame, as I had a few ideas yesterday morning that I would have loved to develop into something...

Anyway, good luck everyone for the remaining hours/day with your games!

Ludum Dare 49

Better late than... not participating biannually!

So, LD48 didn't work out for me cause "no time". With LD49 it's pretty much the same circumstances. But there has to be a game. There simply has to be a game. So let's see what can be done within the remaining 36h or so... wish me luck :)

But this time!

Despite the circumstances... there. actually. is. a. game  :joystick:

Care to check it out? Thanks! https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/49/desultorium
