LD 40

I'm in!

I'll be working with Unity3D 2017.2 on Linux!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7k-wCkF_4U

Since I haven't used Unity3D for 2D games before, I wanted to make sure that I'm not going to google every second step when starting to work on a game for LD40. I also got myself much more familiar with Krita and learned how to use the integrated animation features - they're incredible! You can create a whole scene as usual in different layers and animate single layers to add some flavour. That way you're able to prepare a complete scene in all its beauty and export it as single sprites before using it in unity.

This is the best workflow for 2D I have found so far and it allows me to stay on Linux and use Open Source software whenever I can.

  • OS: Arch Linux (yeah I know)
  • Graphics Editors: Gimp, Krita, Blender
  • Engine: Unity3D 2017.2
  • Coding: VIM with Omnisharp (https://forum.unity.com/threads/unity3d-with-vim.355814/)
  • Audio: Audacity, FL Studio

If I'm streaming my jam, you'll find it at: https://www.twitch.tv/mrodrez

Looking forward to the jam!

Day #1 Progress - Infectious Void

I'll have a whole day tomorrow to connect the mechanics to the environment, add some enemies and sound. I am very confident with the results so far and time management was great this time.

Sickness spreads to your body while you venture deeper into this void. Gather too much of it and you'll die - but beware. Everything will make you sick and only light will be able to cleanse it. Think twice before drinking a promising potion.

Playing some LudumDare Games!

If you want to come by, check out

And feel free to tell me to try out your game. I'm trying to find more games that are fun to play and rate.

I'm playing on Linux, so if your game does not natively support Linux, I'll try and emulate it. Works most of the time but I can make no guarantees.

I'll be playing more LudumDare Games now!

Make sure to tell me about your game in the chat, I probably won't see it if you're commenting this blog post. I'll not be streaming for too long today, so don't be sad if I don't get to your game today.

Ludum Dare 49

Finally, another entry done

I'm especially glad to finish something for a ludumdare again - I've been making alakajam games, but my most recent ldjam experiences were a bit rocky. Not enough time, life events taking motivation away - not this time!

Been going for short 3D experiences recently, so I made an artsy fps game this time. :)

Feeling grateful to see all those people participating in these jams. Looking forward to check out some games!
