My body is ready for the mini ludum dare!

Woah, that was a really quick move, I never expected this.

Well, I’m considering this mini competition as a start off – this will be my first submission ever.

Wish me luck 😀

Trees!

How not?

Let there be rain!

So we’re making a platformer!

Here’s a cool rain effect to kick off with! I already took care of sound effects and such.

We also have the basic ground sprite and some floaty white pixels.

Level 1 completed!

yeaaaa-

Sketches!

So Mati and Itamar came up with a sketch for a puzzle, here it is! 😀

To everyone thinking the character is an enderman…

It’s not.

:)

Run!

A good factor of horror is the player’s wild imagination. We took that in account in our game. Actually, the player may interpret the game however they’d like.

You’ll see in the game for yourself.

Testing a scary game

Quick note to everyone who wants to participate:

You can’t test your own scary game. You already know when there’s a scare, a creepy moment or a scary sound. You cannot tell whether it’s a good chill down the spine or not.

To overcome this, you need a small group of testers, of various reactions and tension. This way you’ll be able to tell if your game’s a good scare or not.

One of my testers stopped playing in the middle.

Good luck to everyone and can’t wait to see the entries! 😀

A small idea for the ludum dare website: better trophies?

So I had this idea, maybe give us a code to implement into our game that awards the player’s profile (if exists) with a custom trophy, just like you can do now (manually)?

This could be a great feature for the ludum dare website, as it would attract more people to join and it would be fun to have! 😀

A simple way to do this would probably be by adding giving some(all users) the ability to define a set of trophies then award them to players via some api call like: ludumdare.com/?player=someone&tropy=superawesome3&cheatingprevention=3i48f7dnKJBNR8

I think this would be cool

I love the idea. I think the biggest problem is figuring out which user is playing your game. Of-course there is also the problem that adding a throphy cost precious time.

Surprise!

Screenshot time!

Wow!

Looks Cool!

Grr.

I can’t come up with any good ideas for this theme, it’s annoying imo.

So far our game is extremely linear and challenge-less, we’re clueless on what to do right now.

:C

Back on track!

The game’s gonna revolve about score and (barely) real time strategy.

Another screenshot soon. 😀

I’m in!

This is our first (real) Ludum Dare!)

So far we only participated in Mini-LD #29 and #30!

Here’s a list of stuff we’ll be using:

Programmer (me): Game Maker 8.1 (40$ well spent!), sfxr, Notepad++

Artist (Mati): Game Maker’s built-in sprite editor, Paint.NET / Gimp, Macromedia Flash 8

Musician (Siemka): Fruity Loops / Magix Music Maker / Pixel’s ORG Maker

Good luck everyone! 😀

Some progress

Running and jumping! 😀

Even more progress!

Enemies! Shooting! Aiming!
