I'm in?

First time I've ever joined a game jam of any kind. I hope I'm not making a fool of myself.

Using GameMaker Studio 2 and Aseprite.

Grounded Quest mission

Done with one of the three missions I had planned for my game. This took longer than I expected, might have to cut one of the missions out.

Grounded Quest is about a boy who is grounded and can't go play outside. So he imagines his own world inside his home to make a game out of his chores.

Grounded Quest sorta kinda done.

I had to cut so many corners. But I guess I'm doing fine for my first ever jam. I feel like I learned a lot about time management. And I still have a few hours to polish stuff.

Grounded Quest

Using those final hours to try and get some sort of polish. AAaaaaa

Doing well

Most of the core game done.

Doggie

sshot02.jpg

We now have a dog to help you cope with your imposing family.

Everyone's here!

sshot04.jpg The dog seems excited over all the new people in his home. Unlike you.

sshot03.jpg Your annoying cousin won't leave you alone to play with your dog.

Say Hello is about a boy who has his peaceful weekend interrupted by visiting relatives. Now he has to balance his own peace of mind and his family's opinion of him.

Finished!

InstallBanner2.png Did much better than the last time.

On Ludum Dare 38, I tried to cram three different ideas into one game made by one person in one weekend. Obviously, everything was half-assed and I couldn't get any of my points across even by holding the player's hand all the way through. This time, I chose an idea and stuck to it. Everything in the game serves the purpose of driving home the one point I wanted to make. Everything's much cleaner and more straightforward.

Here's the game if you want to try it.

I'm in again.

I'm doing game jams and I'm still alive.

Trial of the Doggo!

Hovercat is clashing with the rest of the graphics, but I kinda like it. Torn between editing the rest of the graphics to fit Hovercat's more shaded style, or making him flat like everything else.

Just some UI

ss002.jpg It's just some basic healt meter and an icon that changes depending your hp. Posting this because I'm kinda proud of the art.

Pretty

Lesson learned

cover_ldjam.png Next time, I'll start by making the beginning and the end of the game, then I can take my sweet time building up the middle and adding features. Got way too into making new enemies and building levels, I had to rush the final boss battle and the ending at literally the last hour. I couldn't even get sounds.

Please give my game a shot, anyway. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/trial-of-the-doggo

Trial of the DOGGO! Geddit?

cover.png I'm kinda bummed that no one's getting the reference in the title of my game. I guess it was cleverer in my head. (Cleverer? More clever? Whatever) Been getting some good feedback, anyway. Now I know how to do better next time.

Please give my game a shot if you got the time. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/trial-of-the-doggo
