Glad That's Over...

Never a good sign when you have to open this page mid-jam!

But should you need it, it's there to help you: https://docs.unity3d.com/Manual/ExecutionOrder.html

I did sand the splinter off the gamefeel, but it took like an hour.

Lost a bunch of time at the start to conflicts, but I'd hate to completely miss an LD! Too much of a streak going to break it. I have a basic skeleton of something as we approach the midpoint, so I will hopefully have something to submit again for compo.

I'm in, starting one day late

A conflict with a family event kept me from starting before now, but I'm in.

I've only done compo before, and I'll be working by compo rules. I'll do one of two things: Target tiny scope and finish within the compo time, or take the full 48 just shifted by a day, and submit to the jam instead.

I also caught a cold, so this is all a bad idea, but I just can't bear to let that streak be broken without a fight.

So-So So Far

I'm in, and working. Hopefully toward a result.

I decided to shake things up and try Blockbench, without practicing. It's been mostly a decent experience, but between some UV issues and some physics .. adventures with my car controller, I am definitely behind where I'd like to be.

But I did have fun diving into some of this low-poly/pixel-art style of model-making.

There's potential, but the core gamefeel of movement is awful right now, and I should already be working on the surrounding game, not still the character controller.

Here's hoping I get some acceleration!

Running on new hardware (Thanks, Tribes 3) but the usual toolset... Unity, and whatever I need from the toolbelt, Audacity, FLStudio, Aseprite, Blockbench, Blender. And my base "starter code" https://github.com/pckenney/ScrambleKit which is mostly useful for the FX system and the extension methods on rigidbody2d.

Not really sure what I'm interested, so limited preconceived notions this time. Will let the theme guide me I guess!

Good luck, everyone.

I'm in - and trying something different

Lost count of how many LDs I've done - over twenty. All with Unity. I've decided to try something different.

I'll use a js framework called boardgame.io and make a React UI. But I've barely touched React before.

I've also been experimenting with AI coding assistants, and I'm going to try using Cursor instead of vanilla vscode. That guy is a bit nuts, and sometime I suspect he has a cocaine problem. I find his work needs extensive revision to avoid a buggy hellscape, so yolo vibe coding is not the plan. But he does know React better than I do and that helps get the ball rolling.

I'm going to try using Phaser this time, but it's new to me and progress has been slow getting a character controller up and running. Classic bad idea to try new tech live in the jam?

Ooops - Extra Zero

No no I meant runspeed=80, not 800!
