Ludum Dare 45

Musical/rythmical/logical game

I would like to try something new this year, so I settled mentally on the topic of music. I like 2D tile-based games (and they are simple to make) and digital audio software such as LMMS, FL Studio etc. and I will try to combine both.

My idea is that a loop will be played at the start of each level (and you can replay it as many times as you wish) and your task is to connect marks placed rather randomly in a grid with a single continuous line (this is a quite common technique on smart phone games) and reproduce the same mellody. When you hit play then, some dude will walk along the line and whenever it crosses some mark, it will play the sound of the mark (e.g. kick-drum, snare, hi-hat, but also can be used for different piano notes).

Here is the idea on the paper: IMGem20191005/em101548.jpg

I'm in!

It's been a long time since finishing a game here and this time I plan to invest energy into actually doing something fun. I plan to learn Unity at the same time, let's see how it goes.

So far three main ideas: 1) Mines exploring, like in Stardew Valley 2) Journey to the Center of the Earth - digging deeper and deeper discovering interesting worlds inside 3) Planet inside a planet inside a planet - when you dig deep, you discover a smaller, weird planet. You dig even deeper, there is another, smaller and even weirder world inside...

Progress ... 1 out of 100

I might not finish a game, but...

...I have learnt many new things in Unity. It's my first time working with it on something more than just browsing through the tutorials. So far I have learnt how to use Sprite editor, Skinning editor, work with entities/components and prefabs, 2D animations and curves, and finally also understood how the scripting works. I am a bit surprised how complicated just a simple platformer physics is (at least what I've seen in the tutorials).

Unity looks really neat and I want to learn more so that next time I can finish a complete game! I would need at least 3 more days this time.
