LDJAM40 Project Remade (Good as Gold)

GaG_Logo.png

In preparations for LDJAM 41 we took our LDJAM 40 entry and remade it keeping the spirit of the theme and original idea of the game but turning it into a puzzler experience with 40 levels to complete. Are you clever enough to complete all the challenges? ;)

Unity scripts to help ramp up your jam project

Hi everyone. In preparations for LudumDare 41 I have packaged some common solutions I tend to use when working on a Game Jam. These are by no means the ultimate package or a complete package to winning a jam but I do hope that in them you may find solutions that can help your project get up and running faster. Some of these are variations on solutions I first learned from Brackeys and Quill18. Once I have had more time to expand on these I'll aim to add them to the unity asset store.

This package includes: - AudioManager: so you can play sound/music quickly - LevelGenerator: that uses an image to build the level - A simple save/load system using a GameManager - A simple camera follow script - Basic MenuManager to open/close a menu

I'll be using these, more than likely, for this competition and wanted to share it with those who are also using Unity. Maybe we can turn it into a "Community Starter Package" for Unity users that it can grow more and more. ;) Have fun deving!

Sneaky Bot Post Jam Version

We finally had time to polish our jam entry a little more and uploaded it as "v2" for PC port and as the Web version. Won't you give it a try? Thanks again to everyone who played and gave us constructive criticism. They were taken into consideration on this polished version.

Temple of Life Post Mortem

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/temple-of-llife

LudumDare 44 was our 6th time competing which helped us out in our decision making process for features in the game to the point we managed to add everything we wanted except...we forgot to playtest! lol We got so caught up in adding things we made the rookie mistake of not playing the game to ensure it was winnable and fun. :/

Turns out the original jam version can be beaten but it is very unfair so we worked out a quick post-jam version to remedy some of the issues and make it more compatible with WebGL. There's still more to fix but that will come with time. Still, could've not done it without the support of my team and the community.

Looking forward to playing and rating your games! Send me a link if your game has Windows or HTML versions and I'll give a go. :)

Limit theme suggestions to 1

One of my favorite part of Ludumdare is getting to suggest and vote for themes for the jam but the Theme Slaugther Round can be daunting.

As the jam grows each time so do the theme suggestions with most of the themes being repeats or lackluster. This is probably because we feel the need to use all 3 suggestions when asked even though we might be struggling just to think of one.

I propose that future jams test reducing the theme suggestions to just one per participant which I believe would help jammers put more effort into thinking of a good suggestion rather than just putting random words to use up their available suggestions.

This should reduce the nearly 5 thousand suggestions to less than 2 thousand making it more manageable and giving more opportunities for your suggestion to be seen by others and voted on.

Would you agree? @pov
