Last-minute “maybe”

I’ve decided that if I can come up with an idea with the theme, I will be trying my best to make something!

Right now I’m working on getting basic stuff working with JS/HTML5 canvas, since this seems like the easiest way for people to play my game, and I have a bunch of JavaScript/other language experience so there’s not a whole lot to learn, just getting input, drawing and playing sounds which I will hopefully be able to turn into a warmup game.

I’ll be using Sublime Text 3 for my code writing, Adobe Photoshop CC for my terrible art and sfxr/bfxr & Musagi for my sounds. I’ll also be listening to Monstercat podcasts for the majority of the time (which might lead to my music being inspired by their music!).

If I do end up participating, I’ll be using Chronolapse to make a timelapse of it.  Chronolapse doesn’t like my monitor setup and doesn’t let me choose which monitor to capture. :(

Good luck!

If you need helping making Canvas work or if you want to make sounds play, etc. Go to the w3cschools website; they have a lot of concise tutorials for working with Javascript and HTML5

+1 for musagi, great choice fellow LD’er ! 😀

Title screen is better than nothing!

I’ve got my title screen done. Almost. That’s all. I’m excited!

(The moon moves around, oh my god.)

Here it is so far! If there’s a crappy ad/popup thing that’s because I use free hosting, you can close it easily. Sorry!

Small progress!

I took a break for a while because I don’t know what to do with this game, so I think I might just make it a badly-written generic shoot em up, as long as I submit something!

Also: If I were to link to the /ld29/ folder on my github.io page’s repo (here) would that be alright to submit as my source? Or should I give it its own repo and use that?

It’s almost a game!

Last night I added a “story” at the start to explain what’s going on, and I added pew pew laser shooting from the player and gave the moon some shooting pattern and its first “phase.” Right now the game looks like it’s going to be a bullet hell-y moon shooting simulator and I’m happy with that for my first game I’ve made.

You can play it here: http://qntnm.github.io/ld29/, sounds and other things may not work on Internet Explorer.
