Good luck, man. :)

I know what to do

My game is going to be a rouge-like game (although ultra death shall be optional), and it will start by showing the player alone, and it will say ‘This is You.’, and then a grid will appear around the player. The player will then be given the ability to go through doors, and it will show the first dungeon. The player will then be sent to the area map, where they can enter 2 or 3 other areas, then above that is the region map, where they can enter other areas.  Above the region map is the world map, which contains regions, then the world will be shown to be a moon of Jupiter, and it will zoom out to the point of the universe, where it will then zoom all the way in on the player, and end with ‘This is You’.

This is You Update One

So far, I have really only gotten cosmetic things in, and I don’t have my basic game engine, or much of the theme in yet. The theme is incorporated due to the stars, which give a cosmic feel to it, and remind the player that they are small, but I still have to incorporate actually showing how small they are. Also, objects are all going to be ASCII.

So this is why 48 hours is so hard

I have to admit, having only 48 hours really makes it clear to me just how hard it is to make a good game. I am still making the basic engine work, and I only have two hours to make the game the way that I want it to be. However, I now have moving enemies, an inventory, and a theme song, which I have no idea of how to make it play in game. I do feel like I am going to continue to work on this game even after the competition. The brown tile is a door, the P's are enemies. Y is You
