The adventure begins!

Hello guys!

This is going to be my first Ludum Dare experience!

I’m trying my luck in the compo. Here are the tools I’m going to use:

Engine: Unity 3D

Plugins/External libraries: LeanTween

Scripting:

  • Language: C#
  • IDE: Visual Studio 2012

3D modelling: Blender, MakeHuman (maybe)

2D art: Krita / GIMP 2

Sound: OpenMPT, Bfxr, Audacity, Ibanez RGR321EX + Metal Muff

Imagination means nothing without doing. Have fun!

My Ludum Dare Manifesto

Have you ever squinted your eyes at the sight of a peculiar object? Why do we do that? Doesn’t this just narrow our vision, making us see the given object even worse?

Well… this habit helps us focus on an object’s features, it helps us to see beneath its surface and behind its appearance, making the process of evaluating it a little bit easier (although the result might not be correct).

In Inesco you will wander through an apparently enchanting and calm forest, but once you squint your eyes you will be able to see that danger lurks all around you. Everything is deceiving… Even after a close analysis…

The Latin word “inesco” means to entice or lure, to deceive.

As you might have notice I’m trying to use game mechanics as a metaphor, as a result, the main goal of the game is to create the right mood, send a deep message and induce the right feelings. All of this in the detriment of fun.

My progress so far includes setting up the project and coding the main mechanics of the game. I’m going to do some rough 3D models and some textures in the next 3-4 hours. After that, I will post some screenshots.

Good luck to all of you Ludum jammers out there and don’t forget to have fun!  :)

Cheers,

Raul

Inesco’s Environment

Phew… It took me way more than it should have, but all the assets for the environment are now done. Now it’s time for some level design and scripting… But first, I need to get some sleep.

Here are the results:
