This is my first Ludum Dare game, its a top down 2D mix of action and reverse tower defence (tower attack?), also mixing medieval and sci-fi themes.

Please take a little bit of time to try out my game, a Medieval/Sci-fi action/tower attack (reverse tower defence!?) game.
Use your trusty shield to repel the enemies attacks, collect all the runes and Escape The Future!

Found some un-optimzed code in the map generation so load times should be much better, once the game loads.

I've just made a small update to fix the shield blocking mechanic so it should be much more reliable, but don't get too close to the towers!

I'm also thinking about expanding the game, here's what I'm thinking of adding:
More levels that vary in size from about half the current size to around twice the current size
More tower variation with different ranges, shooting speeds and damage amounts.
More runes to pick up and a rune upgrade system. Collect them and use them in different ways to gain upgrades and boosts
Different goals for level completion, e.g. destroy a certain number of turrets then find the exit stairs to the next level etc. The last level might be similar to the current once but the runes needed might be collected over previous levels.
Colour variation to the level to aid navigation, i.e. one colour in the centre which changes to another the further from the centre you go.
Updated visuals so I can add more detail in general to the game.
Let me know what you think in the comments.

My first Ludum Dare entry and second Jam game, please take a moment to play and rate, thanks.

The results are in for my first Ludum Dare game out of 2018 entries in the Jam category. I'm happy just to be in the top 50% overall and almost in the top 25% for fun!
