Ludum Dare 48

Not the best idea, but surely entertaining.

Result of 1st day of work. I tried to use a mesh generator instead of creating game objects for each tile as I intend to reuse that code soon-ish.

Decided to go with this game idea because the other one was a little bit more ambitious and would require more coding time to implement the main game loop, and I would have less time to polish and play around with other stuff I usually don't do (Sound/Art)

Also I am having a lot of fun playing with the prototype lol. Already spent some time playing it just because.

Some remaining stuff to do: * Add UI * Defeat condition * Leaderboard * Sfx/Music * Skybox?

As for my dropped idea, it was about a Balloon Diver, with a snorkel and stuff, and it's objective was going to go the deeper as possible, and also collect submarine treasures in order to buy upgrades that would allow it to go deeper. balloon.png balloon2.png

Wrapping it up for today!

That's it! Was a fun Jam. I haven't done anything super innovative, but I managed to keep it simple while still making it a little bit addictive. Maybe I will release it for Android as well, since it seems to be asking to be in a mobile device.

From a Scuba Balloon to a Miner Orc, the project changed quite a bit. I opted for the option with less programming complexity so I could focus in stuff I usually don't do much (Pixel art and 3D modelling). The core game was ready yesterday and I had a lot of time to do polishing. Learned a lot of stuff!
