Keep It Up Kitty! Music, Gameplay, My love for Ludum Dare 56
Since I've received positive feedback on the music in Keep It Up Kitty! I figured I'd give a little background on my process.
I did most of the songwriting and production on my OP-1. I exported the individual tracks to Ableton for mixing/mastering, added in a riser and some effects, and put it thru a mastering loop. Very simple but I think good enough for a few hours work. I like the OP-1 because I can get an idea together quickly, it has nice cute sounds that fit the vibe i wanted, and the audio quality fits the lo-fi aesthetic well.
Having nice gear and experience playing instruments for >20 years is a big advantage in an event like this, lol.
I've had such a great experience with this October's compo/jam. I felt like I had the best grasp I've ever had on the theme and my vision, and being (recently) unemployed, I had the time to fully devote to executing my best. I've also been really impressed and had fun playing everyone's entries!
As a bonus, please enjoy this gameplay clip of the craziness that begins once you make it a bit further into the game :)
