Ludum Dare 52

So little progress

We came up with some great ideas last night but I decided I needed to have a moving camera so I spent a few hours last night adding that to the my engine only to realize that that totaly broke the way it handled mouse and touch inputs so instead of actually working on our game I have spent most of my time adding basic features to my engine.

It's not even programmer art but we have progress

Screenshotem20230108/em011124.png The engine is working again after spending half the day fixing things I broke adding moving cameras last night. We now have cameras, input, collisions, particles, sound effects, and music all working... not that the assets are all made yet but I'm the programmer so Ill cross that bridge once we have a working game. UI needs a few finishing touches and we need some game logic but the engine is functional and the base entities are in place. I think it is time to call it a night so this is the half way point. Oh, I almost forgot to mention our concept art is looking pretty good. Maybe I'll post some tomorrow.

2 day update

I still haven't put the final assets in the game Sunday Evening Update.pngBut I figured it was time for another update. We have harvesting working our ui actually calls the callbacks now and Im still using placeholder art because I spent to much time on the issues with the input system to convert the images from our artists into the final sprites. Sneaking in under the wire

Slim Reaper is finally done, well for now. We just snuck in with a couple of minutes to spare only to discover that when the player moves they disappear. Slim Reaper - Bug fix update

I fixed most of the bugs people were complaining about and one that nobody even knew about but me so if you tried the game and want to know how the game would play without all the bugs come on by. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/52/slim-reaper just be aware that I added a few new bugs and completely threw off the balance so you now run out of money every time... just like the real world.

When no feature is a feature

I was checking out my scores, because I am a sadist like that, and I noticed that one of my better scoring catigories is audio... We ended up scratching the audio at the last second because it wasn't ready and made the game worse. I guess that was the right decision. wth.png On the topic of random posts. Our post jam release is not quite ready yet. I went over board on features and decided to rework the menu system and it is taking a bit of time but I'll post a link to it here soon.
