Ludum Dare 50

Ludum Dare 50 (JAM) done

So I finished my game for this Ludum Dare, which was the second one I joined. This time I submitted pretty early in comparison to LD48. Now I decided to write a bit about my experience the past 3 days and compare this to my last ld jam. I really liked the theme 'delay the inevitable', my first thought when I heard it was death, because at some time we all die. Another idea was the end of the world, but maybe it wont happen, so I just went with the death. I also noticed that we could use 2 types of death here: in-game-death or real life death (story), and 'cause making story games in jams leads usually to overscoping or it is a lot of stress I went with the first one. When were compare that to my last ld jam where the theme was 'deeper and deeper' I just had an easier time coming up with ideas. After the idea was set, I just made a bad looking prototype to test out if the idea was fun (I also missed that step last year). Here a big challenge was to make the wind feel like actual wind even without the visuals. After that it was no special process exept for keeping my social media followers quite up to date what I usually don't do much. At the end of day 2 I was actually finished. Today, day 3, I only fixed two bugs, that happened a lot. Lastly I exported the game and in 1-2 hours I made a page for it. This was way faster than last year (comparison: I submitted 3hours before end last time, and im writing this while there are still 6+ hours left + I could have submitted it yesterday), probably that's because I just practiced the game dev craft every single day from then and I always learned something new.

With these words said, I hope you have a great day and maybe you want to play my submission  https://ryder-studios.itch.io/delay-your-death
