Missing Princess

screenie1.png

This was my first time participating in the Ludum Dare. My sleep-deprived body, that got used to pumping more coffee than blood through my veins over the last weekend, thinks that the experience was rather frustrating. My brain, on the other hand, is quite impressed with the amount of knowledge that I was able to absorb in such a short period of time. Before the Jam I barely even knew what was Phaser and now, 72 hours later, I can present a game written with this framework - so, it might have been worth participating after all :)

According to me, the fruit of my work is a text-based, story-driven puzzle platformer. Your goal, which is finding the princess that has gone missing, can be achieved by exploring the game's world. You can explore it by using portals incorporated in green words. Those portals lead you to different scenes which unveil the princess' story.

Personally, I believe that my game doesn't use all the potential that is available in this strange mix of genres. When I first came up with this game idea, I was hoping I could invent plenty of puzzles, but that was really not the case. My gut is telling me that the puzzle that lets you go past the main menu is worth more than the rest of the game. In other words, I believe that a game based entirely on small puzzles (such as the one in main menu), even without a story about the princess, would have turned out to be better than my current game.

Enjoy!
