I have been around since LD30. Most of the time I have loved the theme, gotten unique and simple idea within the first hour but I have only ONCE managed to finish a game, and even then it was rushed.
This time around it was exact opposite.
* I remembered about the jam 12 hours in.
* Hated the theme.
* Decided that I will not even try.
Since what are the odds of me submitting a game when:
1. I have 12 hours less than I normally do. (and even then I never get to submit anything)
2. I'm not prepared at all like I was the previous times
3. I have a small baby I did not have around the previous times.
So I just went on about my day, but kept constantly thinking about game ideas. Then 18 hours in I decided to start tinkering with unity and ended up with a finished project. :open_mouth:
Feels amazing. :blush:
I have to warn you that it is a very challenging puzzle game. Play it here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/oscilloscope
