Hi everyone. This is my first Ludum Dare effort and I'd love to be able to get rated as well as hear your feedback on how I can improve my game development skills.

Thanks and appreciation to all those who have voted and commented!

Going post-cyber ^^

Thanks to everyone who played and voted on my first-time entry "riskREWARD" (https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/riskreward).

I've been sidetracked for a week to complete my second game jam event on itch.io (https://siepiau.itch.io/a-visit-from-st-nicholas), but am now back to work on a post-LD version of "riskREWARD". The new setting now takes place in same universe as my long-term cyberpunk game project. I'll also be adding game mechanics that didn't make it in time for the LD deadline.

Much thanks to those who kindly commented on my entry: Your input has helped me re-evaluate my design choices and considerations. Hopefully the next iteration of this game will be a vast improvement over the current one!

Work-in-progress (not representative of final product) :P The A.I. and random map generation have been improved but are still far from satisfactory.

First Game Jam afterthoughts...

Hello and thanks to everyone who rated and commented on my entry!

Impressions from my first Ludum Dare experience:

  • Great to see many like-minded people going thru the same processes
  • There are way too many entries! I played almost 50 games and missed almost all the top games. Where do you find the time to play?
  • Some entries are so polished and with such well thought-out levels, it's hard to believe they were made in such a short time

BTW my results are decidedly average and I have mixed feelings about that. I really want to improve my creativity and development skills to a much higher level, but there's still some ways to go...

My final takeaway is:

Congrats to everyone who completed, no matter how well/badly you got rated. Ranking is not as important as getting honest feedback to become better at your craft! Keep making games and enjoy! ^^

Development on my game continues as does my learning process:
