Ludum Dare 50

First Ludum Dare. Can't wait!!

This is going to be my first Ludum Dare.

I'm not sure if I'll finish, but I've been needing to get better with making smaller scope games as I have a bad tendency of over scoping every project I start.

Tools

• Engine - Unity
• Code Editor - VSCode
• 2d Art - Aseprite
• SFX - BFXR
• Music - 1bitdragon
• Audio Editor - Audacity
• 3D Models? - Blender (Not planning on going 3d but I'll see what the theme is.)
• Design Stuff - Milanote

Will try to put my source code on GitHub, but I have no idea how that works so it'll probably end up on googledrive.

Good luck all!

It's not much, but it's a start.

Gonna have to start adding some mechanics soon!!

Calling it a night for day one.

That's gonna be it for the first day for me.

Managed to get my idea sorted, controls scripted and most sprites and animations all done.

Now all I have to do is code the mechanics... and add a UI... and sound... also a start menu and game over screen.

I'm sure that'll all be done 23 hours from now.....right!

Post mortem for my unfinshed game.

Figured it's best that I throw in the towel for this Jam, as I'm really not enjoying myself.

The problem being that, I don't actually like my idea or game and I've hit a wall trying to come up with ways to actually make it fun.

I'd struggled to come up with an idea for the theme, so just went with the first idea I'd had (Old man needs to go to the gym to prolong his life).

I should, have made some prototypes. But I'd never made anthing with 2d sprites before so wanted to spend some time working on those, figured inspiration would strike as I worked.

It didn't unfortunately, but I still learned a lot about making spirtes and animations in Aseprite so the Jam was still a positive experience for me.

Linking the project folder on google drive if anyone wants any bits from it. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_lwKRuhMkjqgo3O8Mbp55uKAvDtS8w1t/view?usp=sharing

Looking forwards to playing through everyones games tomorrow!
