Working to my first Ludum Dare entry!

So I joined in half-way through but I got really excited to do most/all of the art for Pickens Inc.’s game.
We’d met a couple of weeks ago and I expressed my ability to do some forms of digital art, he recruited me half-way through the Ludum Dare to fix his bricks… and I just sort of kept going xd.
DAY 1 (For me):
First thing I did as mentioned previously was all of his brick textures/sprites. Then I did the player character sprite, then his walk animation. All of this took me an entire afternoon, I believe I started at 15:30 and finished at 23:45.
Very proud of the walking animation I did!

DAY 2 (For me):
Final day of Ludum dare and I’ve got a few things I still need to do, enemies, jumps and attack animations!
Attack animation completed!

A few hours in, Pickens/Poly has woken up so now I can get some feedback for my work, he likes it!
Took me ages to split up the character’s torso and legs for independant animation. Looks good though.
Made a couple of pedestal-brazier-things, a grey and a blue one. They look mighty pretty if I say so myself.
Wow, this door took me forever! All the variant/frames for it plus just the design and implementation, wow. Took me the better part of 3 hours!
Made an outside/beginning area, took some inspiration from shovel knight, I quite like it.
Realised I needed to update my journal, here it is!
We tried to think of a name, Wik Dungeon, Torch, Ignite… Ig-Knight! … It’s a placeholder.
We found some really cool copyright free 8bit music. Thanks TeknoAxe!
Can’t stop listening to it!
I’ve finished all my major jobs, time to fill in the boring gaps in the dungeon with some aesthetic props/guff.
Done a bunch of paintings and and stuff for filler, helped Pickens map out the levels in the game.
Finished everything I can do, just have to hope Taha can put it all together in time!
Heya, been a long time since I've written something myself for one of these Jams. Partnering up with Pickens once again to make another extremely moody game.
Being able to take off all the safety wheels of AAA is so refreshing, just throwing stuff at the wall and moving on can be super fun every once in a while. Ignoring the hour I lost because I threw a few too many safeguards out the window haha.
Been having a blast though, I've made a fun stylised post-process, enemy character VFX including a death, PC effects, a player companion in the form of a firefly swarm. Been a busy day, tomorrow I'll be working on the effects for a PC death and then possibly re-evaluating what we want our main PC to look like, make some animations and poses, a cheeky bit o' branding and then helping actually make the levels for the game!
See you all tomorrow!
