Thank You Everyone!

My game Lovecraftian Farming managed to hit 20 Ratings! You're all the best! I'll still be playing and rating games for the next half hour till it ends! Drop a link!

Obligatory I'm in post and whatnot.

Time for my 23rd LD entry!

I'll be streaming my progress over on Twitch!

As a side note! Make sure you brush up on how to publish Web versions of your games! Due to the increase in viruses being spread in "demo" games recently through things like Discord. It's really important to make sure you make a Web version of your game as very many people are now hesitant to download any games! So this is a reminder to go read your engine's docs and find out how to do that!

My Theme List! I'm pretty excited!

LDThemes.png

I'm excited for the LD, I will probably be using Unity since I haven't had enough time to really iron out my workflow for any other engine I'm messing with.

Anyway for themes I like themes that have multiple interpretations, Some themes I see are often narrow leading to games with very similar ideas and I think that makes some of the rating phases for the past jams feel slow to get through, for me personally.

Maybe try looking at your theme suggestions and broaden them to allow new interpretations! Instead of "One Button Controls" try "Minimal Buttons" getting the idea across without getting 'um akshually' in the comments when you used 1 button and an analog stick which "doesn't really fit the theme". Or maybe how about instead of "Outer Space" try just "Space" which can have games about trying to find a parking space, not just games that have space ships!

Here's some interpretations for my themes, but I think there's definitely plenty of other ideas for!

Artifact - The obvious one that people go to are Ancient or magical Artifacts, but you can also have Artifacts as in a side effect like an artifact in a science experiment Finally maybe a game about Glitchy Video Artifacts?

Support - This could be physical support like holding something up, emotional support, maybe it's you play as the backup for a spy who's undercover supporting them? Maybe you're the healer in an MMO? You have to support the new hire during their job training.

Limits - This one is so broad and that's the benefit, it asks you to put guard rails, but not what rails to put. Maybe you limit the number of inputs, maybe you limit the number of towers in your tower defense, or maybe you limit the distance the player can travel in your game. There's so many things you can do, but the goal is to come up with some hard limit then make a game around that limit!

Oblgatory I'm In post!

6 years and counting!

This will be the 18th since the new Ludum Dare site launched 6 years ago! It's hard to imagine!

I'm going to be using Unity again, I've spent the past 10 months or so learning Godot in the background, but as a C# dev I can't in good conscience use Godot due to Godot 4+ not supporting Web with C# yet, I'll likely fully switch when that happens but for now It's going to be Unity! Tools are the usual:

2D

  • Aseprite
  • GIMP
  • Paint

3D

  • Blender
  • MagicaVoxel
  • Kenney Asset Forge/Shape

Audio

  • Tenacity
  • Lovely Composer

Just a few more days!

This seems to happen to me every time, but I had to go back to work pretty quick after the Jam. Gotta make sure I can pay the bills!!

That means I haven't spent as much time advertising as I'd like! So if you could, go check out our game! It'd really help us out!

I'm also working on a short postmortem post for after rating and stuff is over!

We Made It! Now Let's Get some people's games rated!

Our game Neon Citadel, a Scifi Summoning Tower Defense just hit 20 ratings today! And If you haven't played ours yet yet we'd love to get more ratings so Check It Out!

Now we should help people get their games rated! Anyone still needing ratings should comment their game below with a quick description and then go and play and rate everyone else in the comments games!

Now go get those ratings!

Whoops! I Burned out and need to play games!

This LD was interesting for sure, since it was the first I did by myself since LD37 in 2016 and I massively over-scoped the game because I didn't manage my time for art and FX and stuff.

This led me to crunching super hard at the end and scrapping a ton of features, just generally overdoing it.

I crunched so hard I basically couldn't even bring myself to play games I was just so tired, so now... of course... with 4 days left I need to play all the games to try and get my game to 20 votes ASAP!

I'll be playing games this upcoming week anyone who also needs last minute ratings let me know for sure!

If you get the chance to play my game please do!

Here's my game if you want to try it out! 6eccd.png

Welp time to add another LD to my collection!

lmao

Stream Time!

Same as usual Unity for it's web Export, though I hope Godot gets C# web exports soonsome recent stuff seems promising so fingers crossed

Besides that same as usual, Blender, Affinity Designer, GIMP, Aseprite, LDTK, LMMS, Audacity, the usual. The new kid is VSCodium which is just VSCode without the MS Tracking stuff, so not a huge departure there.

Hope everyone is ready to go!

Don't ~~forget~~ to eat, hydrate and sleep!

It's important!
