Ludum Dare 45

DOOONE!!!

I hated my game the first day and loved it the second day! Deja vu :)

I am really tired and really happy. Now I can go to bed.

My game is finally done. <3

"Light your way out" has 50 votes!

My game reached that magical milestone, 50 votes and 35 comments, which is pretty awesome!

I did my duty and rated over 60 games.

Now it's time to rate some more games in the DANGER zone.

So good

For the first time I have such good results, I was very surprised when I saw them! Top 100 in most categories and top 25 in the fun category!

It was yet another amazing Ludum Dare edition, so many good games and such lovely people. Thank you all!

Isn't a friendly sprite already dead?

I feel like I'm the "already dead" one here, so much work ahead of me. demo3.gif

Hey, at least the solid basics work, and it doesn't look THAT bad!

Friendly fight

Important work has been done.

Everything's ok. I just don't have levels, story, music and sounds... GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Friendly Sprite - Done!

Such a cuties, look at the two little friends! :3

I wanted to make sooo much more, but oh well, I'm still proud of it. It's something and it's finished. Definately my prettiest game, maybe even the best one yet?

Now, onto the deverved sleep! Good luck to everyone still working on their entry!

Hopping around some planets

Day 1 is nearing its end. I've managed to make some good progress:

obrazem2020-10-03/em230418.png

After previous Ludum Dare, which was a disaster timingwise, I've decided to create something rather small, but to polish it as much as I could. I think I'm on a right track so far. There's still some things I need to add: starting streen, proper death, comets, some art and reasonable pacing. Also, it won't be hard, not after the last time.

I think about adding normal maps, although I have never used them. But still, they seem like they would be a nice addition to this game. :) Well, we'll see tomorrow!

Planet Hopper is OUT

Phew! I didn't have much time today, but I still added some new features. I'm happy with what I've got in the end :3 obrazem2020-10-05/em012303.png The theme didn't suck. I said it.

Horror game, maybe?

Experimenting with normal maps and some basic ideas for the gameplay.

COLOR FROM OUTER SPACE

I turned the light's intensity to a huge value to check if it works properly.

Turns out it creates a cool aesthetics, I like it.

Day One Progress

I have a lot to do tomorrow. The gameplay is nonexistent, but I'm happy with the mood, the visuals are almost done. I've also implemented level loading and transitions, and a lot of small details.

I'm proud of the hero's look and animation, as I can't draw really - it turned out surprisingly neat.

No time

I didn't have as much time as I wanted this time. I really don't have any gameplay besides minigame (lmao, being too ambitious again). Also, I'm writing in Go this time, since I was fed up with the JS and node.js bullsh*t and my game doesn't require any special effects. And I like Go :) I downloaded raylib port for it and it works smoothly even though I use it for the first time, I'll be using it more in the future for sure.

So, basically I'm pretty bummed out, but there's 5 hours left, I'll try my best to make something good from it.

I won't make it for the Compo :(

This is my 8th game in a row for the Ludum Dare and for the first time I will have to switch to the Jam. Welp, I have worked on it for just a bit over one day, so it's not that surprising. Even if I wanted to publish something half-baked, I don't have gameplay yet, so I don't have a choice. On the other side, I'm starting to like the game, or at least its version in my head :) See you all tomorrow!

FixOS is done

8th LD in a row - the product is delivered!

I'm very tired. I didn't have time to upload the game properly, so it comes right with the code. Overall, I'm just happy it works. I think I did fairly well considering the scope and the uniqueness of the game. I had to cut some corners, but honestly, I like the game. I'm gonna make a post-compo version for sure :) ld49_ld.png

MS Paint strikes again

So, LD50, I'm here once again :D This time with Godot, as I continue my exploration of game-making technologies. As of now, I must say, Godot is an awesome tool. I've managed to code most of mechanics in my game, which will be sort of a clicker/city simulator with pooping dinos. The visual form is yet 100% full of placeholders, but that will be changed tomorrow. But so far so good.

Dinos be poopin'

Most important mechanics are done. Now it's time to give this game some polish (and fix bugs). Art, music, sounds, that's all before me. And then the most difficult part - game balance, which right now is nonexistent. LD50emdemo/em2.png

I think I'm leaving compo this time

Remember my last post? I guess not, haha. In any case, I barely did anything from my list. Feature creep got to me and I had to leave for a few hours. I could finish the prototype and upload it, but I like the game too much to leave it like this. So I'm moving to the Jam category and tomorrow will be the day of polish. Good luck to everyone and congratulations to people finishing their projects for Compo. :)
