Getting Ready!

The Tesco run is done.

The fridge is stocked with food.

The snacks are on stand by.

The coffee is ready to be brewed.

And we eventually found a spare power cable for my friend who drove his PC all the way here...and forgot his.

Looking forward to getting stuck into LD!

All the best,

Tem

Progress!

Things are going well. No time to really explain anything, but the most important game logic is almost all there.

(Man, can't wait till we can embed GIFs and such here)

One last thing

The static flag was bugging me the more I looked at it.

Crumpets and Cannons

Can you help Isambard Kingdom Brunel and his steam-powered manservant Jeeves claim planets in the name of the British Empire and The Queen?

No? Tell you what, have a cup of tea first and then reconsider.

Then point your browsers over towards: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/crumpets-and-cannons

This is a very small game which is missing a lot of the, well, 'game' part but I'd be really interested in feedback and people's thoughts nonetheless. Also really really curious to know what folks think about the characters, personality and style. Tempted to spend more time on it and make a bigger thing. Thanks!

Run animations are DONE.

Before and After

I love before and after captures. It's a good showcase of how something is built; in small steps. An artist starts with a sketch. A musician starts with just a few notes. A game developer starts with primitives and stupid little smiley cicles.

People are often put off making things because they can't make the perfect thing straight away. Everything needs to be done in small steps. There is nothing wrong with that.

And done!

Well, I managed to complete my entry 20 minutes before the deadline last night but the LD servers seemed to be melting so the submission page has only just gone up!

Had a great time doing this as always. What I managed to make was a lot smaller than I intended but I promised myself I'd tackle some audio this time and that meant learning a whole new program before even getting started. I'm really happy with what I managed to make!

If you fancy a go:

The submission page: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/$34616

And the game download for Windows: https://temmy.itch.io/engines-earl-grey

All the best to everyone. I hope you've had fun to.

Embeding HTML5?

Is it still possible to embed a HTML5 build straight into the submission page?

I tried pasting the supplied LD friendly link from Itch.io but that just popped up on the page as per a normal hyperlink.

Hello again

Looking forward to getting stuck in this weekend. Hoping to use LD this time round as an excuse to get more hands on with Unity.

Hope everyone has fun!

I present you...

...my amazing 3D character art.

All done!

Phew! I give you a new game genre I'm calling point & shoot adventure games. Woooo! Adventure games are back baby, and they're armed to the teeth!

Unity bugs aside (oh man, last night I thought I was going to crash out completely) I'm really pleased with this fun little idea. Oh, and it is just an idea. You can complete the experience in less than a minute. VR games eat your heart out, I'm stealing the smallest game record.

Head on over to https://temmy.itch.io/point-shoot to give it a play.

All the best to everyone, and thank you for another fantastic weekend making games.

Been playing lots of LD games today. Be careful though; something has triggered my anti-virus which might be a false positive, but still, it's worth keeping your security up to date when running executables.

Thanks!

Big thank you to everyone who has played and left a comment on my entry. You've inspired me to try and carry it further into a larger game.

Long live adventure games!

Woooooo!
