LD26

This is what I’m going with!

Ok, so after a few ideas and a bit of panic I decided on one I feel confident I can pull off.
I’ll take advantage of the Unity Pro trial code and use shadows as the main visual element.

LD_001

Gameplay should be simple but hopefully interesting enough.

End of day 1

After a panicky first few hours I decided to just run with an idea.

This is what I have so far: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/226993/LD26_WIP/index.html

List for tomorrow:
– come up with a name
– put more effort into title and end screens
– music and more variety in sfx
– continue to tweak gameplay

Any feedback would be great!

Timelapse and thoughts.

So my final LD game is called MOTHBOTS, check it out here:

I was a bit stuck at the start, so I just took an idea and ran with it. I did a lot of things I had never done before so that was great, and was happy to finish it in time. I also made a timelapse:

Seeing it now though, makes me feel like I’d rather work on stuff with cool characters and interesting universe then arcadey action games. I feel like I should start practicing writing, I’d love to work on something like a point n click adventure or something similar. Coming up with ideas is easy but fleshing them out, to me, is really difficult.

I learned quite a bit of technical stuff working on this Ludum Dare, but I feel like this direction in terms of the type of content I want to create is the most important thing I got from it.
