Ludum Dare 53

Things I've learned during my 2 jams

Hey all, this is my second Game Jam! Some stuff I have learned throughout these are: - These are really fun - Doesn't matter if the game has rough art, bugs, issues, whats important is that you do your best! - Keeping scope manageable is key - If you're using your own engine you will quickly learn how many features are missing (although now I know what to fix/implement)

All in all though, have fun and do your best! These aren't about making the perfect game, it's to challenge yourself to follow a strict deadline and release something :D

Challenges I faced during this Game Jam

Almost done my submission, just testing and doing bug fixes. Figured I'd take a rest and write down challenges I faced by using my own engine: - Had to implement a lot of new features (In hindsight this makes sense, but at least the engine is more stable for the future!) - So. Many. Crashes. - No UI system caused a few headaches but I did what I could. - No Undo/Redo (not fun haha)

Throughout the whole Jam though I learned a lot about programming and my engine as a whole! I have a full list of features I want to add too. That's something I love about using my own engine, it truly shows what features I should prioritize. I'm very excited to continue working on my engine and see what I can create during the next Game Jam!!! (Maybe I'll finally have that UI system)

Best of luck to my fellow jammers!
