I'm mildly pissed that these images don't embed. Anyone know how to make it work?

I'm finally done on the first day. It actually took me a while to get going and I had a very long breaks in between which you will see in the time lapse once I publish it. I'm really looking forward to making extra game play tomorrow. Holy cow Apple voice recognition works really really well .... why am I still typing, ever?
Status at the End of day 1 - Tending to some bio functions and downloading GarageBand so I can experiment with making a little bit of music for the game tomorrow

Sleeping is overrated. I just spent 2 1/2 hours in GarageBand instead of sleeping. That actually means I have a soundtrack for my game :3
Today was super work-intensive, wresting with Unity Bugs and lack of sleep. I found out a lot of... interesting things about the "new" Unity GUI.
Also wrote some code, but my game has scope problems, and there are only 6 hours left.
I literally have no game play yet. :-/ So my plan is to do my worst here and tonight, and then take the game to the AMAZE! Jam next week and spend another 8 hours on it. :)

So, my game, NO BORDERS, NO NATIONS was supposed to be an indirect politics game. The goal is to make the world a better place, by allowing free migration across the map, but also by both altruistic as well as underhanded tactics.

So. My second Ludum Dare, and this time I really killed myself with scope issues. Actually, what happened was that I didn't realize just how much work a little GUI layouting can mean, especially if you have no idea what you're doing thanks to what I guess are ... bugs, in Unity. Yeah, I know, sounds really far out. :)
The plan is now to take this husk of a game to the AMAZE! jam at the end of the coming week, and hopefully get some gameplay in.

You do this by taking actions on "cohorts" of the population; for simplicity's sake you only have access to the three smallest Minorities, and the three largest Majorities. Each action costs an amount of one of your three currencies:

So. Thanks, Ludum Dare, and so long. I'm actually in pain because I sat on an improvised chair for a long time, and I have learned a lot, also about failure.
See you all again next time!

Featuring the music I made for the game last night! Whenever someone tells you it's ok to procrastinate and compose some music for your game in GarageBand, and then says it's ok for you to fix and break your UI layout ten dozen times...

Just uploaded my first JAM entry (after some earlier compo entries) I did this together with Arakin (Code, Logic, and Levels), Demi (Code, Art, Levels), Covahr (Music), Thygrrr (Code, Levels, Sound, GFX)

You have four power consumers, three batteries, two chargers, one reactor. What could possibly go wrong?
https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/space-dog-ld-39
The WISHBONE’s main reactor was struck by an antimatter asteroid! Now, she’s running on emergency battery power… with the crew fast asleep in cryo stasis, only the dog can help the A.I. prevent disaster!

Shameless plug, I know. We just had so much fun making this. :dog:

These past days have been really wonderful for the team. For @Demi, it was her first Ludum Dare entry ever; for @StuartMD the second, CoVahr had never done one either, and for me, it was the second submission to a LD as well.
Thanks for all the great feedback and most of all, the extremely kind words. We are speechless!
We had so much fun making our entry, and it's great to see people on Youtube and Twitch play the game, and hear first hand from fellow Ludum Dare participants how they enjoyed the game. :)

Special Thanks to Randomize User, we had a good laugh watching you play. Good boy!
We're making a game about the intricacies of gifting (and being a super-cheap re-gifting scumbag) in growing circles of friends.

This is going to be the game title screen for RE-SANTA.

Christmas is such a drag! Cut out the middle man, by becoming the middle man!

RE-SANTA was an idea I came up with after sleeping in on Saturday morning. We should have gone to bed at 11, but instead waited till nearly 3 am for the theme announcement, only to go to bed just an hour shy of that time, and then lying awake in bed until it was time to read up on the theme on our phones... classic LUDUM FAIL.
It was an overall lazy but fun jam, and we made a game about being lazy all year long.
Laziness even resulted in the shorter name, even though we kind of agreed that RETURN TO SANTA would have been a better, punnier title. But alas, knitting takes time - and we had waffles to eat and coffee to drink.
Merry Christmas, for crying out loud.

Third LD submission, third top 100 overall finish. Hell yes! Thank you all for the kind reviews and excellent feedback!
Lacking an artist, we're especially happy this time to be in the top 30 of graphics.
You should play RE-SANTA while still in the holiday season and some Christmas feelings remain: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/40/re-santa
