Progress so far

So my games based off an Issac Asimov book, one of his short stories; if you have time, you can read it here (about 10 minutes long) http://multivax.com/last_question.html

I'm going for the very last power in the universe!

Oh, and you play as Multivax ! Capture.PNG

Shameless Game Promotion

Capture.png

Hey, so I finished the compo 24 hours ago, and all I wanted was pizza! so promotion kinda got skipped :( Fortunately I'm not craving pizza any more, so It's "Promo Time"

I really liked the theme for this Jam, I almost immediately jumped to the thought of Entropy (I spelled that wrong so many times in the game), and a short story I read a few years ago called "MultiVAC". So my submission is based on that story.

Take on the role of MultiVAC, a universal computer. Guide Humanity on it's quest to conquer the start, from simple questions like "Is Milk good for you?" to "Can Entropy be reversed?" Your answers will effect the happiness of your people. When disaster looms, find the best solution or risk the deaths of Millions or Billions or Trillions or 36e-12 souls! (Oh the humanity...) Go in search of Alien life! (Anyone wearing a Red shirt? no? good!)

And finally, if you're able to guide humanity through its challenges, you will discover the underlying code to the universe!

Go, Save Humanity @ https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/end-of-time

Game Page Update - Better Instructions

Hey y'all,

So I've had feedback, and it seems like people like the game, but my instructions were not up to scratch. So I've updated my game page with better instructions (and a link to the story behind the game, I realized I had missed that off :-/ )

I would really appreciate feedback on if the instructions for the game are clear, and does the game make more sense after reading the story that inspired the game!

Thank you to anyone who's willing to give it a try :)

Who's not had any love? - Link your game for me to play

Hey People.

TL:DR - If your games got no love, Post it here, but also promise to play and rank at least three other games! TL:DR2 - If your games getting love, share it around :)

In LD38 I didn't even rank, because I got no love, And the naff feels hung around a while. This LD39 I seem to be doing ok, and that makes me happy.

I want everyone to feel like I do after LD39, and not like I did after LD38.

So if you're getting no love, post a link to your game here. But also please play a few of the other games that get posted below. - (You can also link to this post from your game page? worth it? totally)

And if you've had lots of love, just think how awesome it would feel to leave feedback for someone who hasn't had.

I'll play as many as I can Friday (Night UTC) & Saturday (day UTC) - And I'll record/stream what I can

Software Recomendations

Hey Y'all, I remember last LD, about now is when people started posting recomendations for software to use to capture your experience of Ludum Dare.

Might I take this opertunity to recommend for your capturing pleasure, OBS which works great on Windows, Mac I don't really know, Linux well Linux you want 'motion' from apt-get but you can probably get OBS to work in a BSD distro.

Yawcam is also pretty good, though it's not a Desktop caturing suite.

Personally really enjoy using VSCode for anything scripting, but that's because I use it every day 8 hours a day for work. and know all the key shortcuts!

I like Game Maker, and thing even a beginner should be able to get into it pretty easily. (But remember, it's better to use software you already know! (Looking at you @philstrahl (Hope you feel better soon! no fun being sick during the LD)))

If you have recomendations of your own, for software to use for Music, Sound Capture, Video Editing, Pixel Painting, Animation, Timers, Text Editors and all the many many others, please post them below :)

Oh; and for those doing the Jam for the first time! Eat some fruit (and veg), keep the sugar drink intake low (alcohol free beer is great for refreshment) and sleep when you're tired! it really helps :) (From an LD 5th timer)

Good luck all you awesome people! Woohoo 8hrs30min to go, I'm going to get some sleep before we kick this thing off :)

7 hours work - I have 'world'

Been at it for seven hours now, but I finally have my world, with dynamic map generation (mostly). Physics, collisions and a goal! 1.png

the power of our games

I know its close to submission hour, but if you have a minute, this is something worth reading - twitter I just happened to pull up twitter, and there it was.

Just 4 more?

I'm so close to 20 Ratings, just need 4 more.

I know Dwarven Dungeon Defense is a little long (About 30 minutes worth of Gameplay) and There's sooo much music (About 15 minutes of unique and music score made entirely for the LD40, as well as unique sound effects and atmospheric sounds). The Screen Shake, monster roars, battle sound and particle effects. A unique Procedurally Generated Dungeon every time, with twisting passageways, false twists, ocasional deadends. it's all really a bit much!

If you have time can you Play the game?

Dwarven Dungeon Defence

Hail Hero! Have you come to claim back the Mountain Hall? You have?! Excellent, right this way now, don't be shy. Pickup your Sword, you better take these Gauntlets as well.

Right, you're all ready! Now just jump down this hole.

Just Look at these exquisite Walls, that craftsmanship of generations past. The Mountain Hall became uninhabitable when ten Monster hives appeared at once within our wall. If you're Hero enough, you will be able to put an end to the Monster Spawners. Take back what is rightfully ours!

Be Careful Hero, these Beasts, both ordinary and Arcane can sense the presence of Gold, They are drawn to it like a moth to a flame. Let me take your purse, we wouldn't want any Beasts taking a liking to you while we're having our little conversation now would we? no. Now as I was saying, these Beasts can smell Gold, as you adventure you will surely acquire more, which will draw out more Beasts. So be careful, The more you have; the worse it is.

Go Hero, Claim back the Mountain Hall!

Looking for somewhere to code (England - Greater London (or London))

Hey Y'all,

I'm going in for my 5th Ludum Dare (woohoo!), but have a slight hitch this time. I need somewhere to work.

Having moved house since my last LD, I can't do the weekend at home (lack of space). So I thought this would be an awesome chance to go code at one of the weekend events I've seen people post about for previous LD's. If you are running a weekend event where people can work together or just come and create a game, I would love to hear about them!

Thank you TolMera

Coding weekend somewhere?

Hey All!

Well I thought I would drop the line out there again and ask. I'm looking for somewhere (not at home) to do Ludum Dare 41. I've seen for the last couple of LD events that there's generally a couple of gatherings where people come together to code for the weekend. If you know about one of these running in the London/Greater London area, can you drop me a link?

Please and thank you :)

Real World Gathering - England (London && Greater London && Outer London)

Hey People!

Two part post: 1) I want to join other people 2) Do you also want to join other people?

1) Ok so I've posted a couple of times that I looking for somewhere to do the dare next weekend, so if you know of anywhere to do the dare (real world gatherings) In England pretty much anywhere on the TFL transport network I would love to hear about it!

2) If you're also looking for somewhere to do the Dare, let me know! If enough people are looking, we can make it happen!

Thank you! that is all :)

Real World Gatherings

If you have a real world gathering, please post it to the list, I'm looking for somewhere to join for the weekend.

The CODING has begun!!!

Well I have to say I love the theme! This was my number 1 pick. I really wanted to do 'real time' + 'turn based', I thought Real Time Chess would have been awesome!

Anyway, since I'm part of a team, we are going with a little Point and Click with a little something mixed in :) Please come back and checkout an update later :) we really hope you will enjoy our game when we reveal the surprise mix-in mechanic! woohoo!

PURPLE!!! and a button

Making progress, so far I have a background and a button that knows when it's been clicked! Now that's what I call progress!

Purple and Gold - Guess where this is going

Card! That's what it is! Cards

It's placeholder art (until our team's artist starts for the day) but never the less, we have cards! So this is going to be a Point and Click Card Adventure! Yea! This should be good1.png
