Ludum Dare 48

postmortem or something!

so, with my compo game published more than 12 hours ago and finally time for a breather, here's my post mortem thoughts or reflections or something about ludum dare 48!

this is . my first game. ever. when i first found out about ludum dare earlier this year (somewhere in march? by watching angela he's youtube channel), i knew that i wanted to participate - last june i wanted to join gmtk's game jam but didn't due to lack of game dev knowledge.

i went in this jam hoping to just get something done, any finished product, and i'm pleasantly surprised at my finished game! the graphics took wayy longer to do than i expected, and my screentime says that i spent 4/11 hours working on graphics. (and 5/11 on code and another hour for music/sfx). i'm more a coding person, so i didn't have any plans for graphics starting out - i'm still happy about how it turned out!

godot was easier to work with than the last time i trieed, and the community's been super nice and caring - thank you for all the support and answers! thank you to ludum dare for making my game development dream a possibility, and thank you for reading this post :)

well, i'm done :)

i hope everyone's going well! my game is actually finished because i'm rushing it, haha.

i originally didn't plan to even join the jam, considering i have four exams next week i need to study for (.... right.) but here we are! the theme was fine, and when i found myself an idea i couldn't leave behind while scrolling through the ludum dare discord i just had to make it.

fortunately it didn't take long and i have a basic game with an idea that i'm in love with.

if you check out my game, emoceans, i hope you enjoy it! otherwise, thanks for reading. all the best with your submissions too.

... hopefully fun take on the theme? !!!

heyo! i'm done, yet again. brainstormed and went from harvest -> harvest festival -> mid-autumn festival -> lanterns and mooncakes. did i stretch it too far?

5th ld and 9th jam overall — i'm so glad i'm still here. anyways, i just finished my game, and this is probably one of my rockiest jams — yesterday i took a nap right in the middle of production and almost gave up. but it turned out pretty okay, and i quite like the product!

i usually go for... rather unconventional takes on the theme. maybe this one isn't as bad? how did you all interpret the theme?
