Unfocused Locust Games

Ludum Dare 49

I’m in 2: Digital Boogaloo

It’s that time of year again, and I’m ready for another Ludum Dare! I haven’t made nearly as many jam games as I’d have liked to this year, but the trade-off is that they’ve been of a higher quality (in my opinion, at least) ;) Good luck to the fellow jammers, and may the best game win!

Stabilaser is out!

This jam was a fun one! I wish I had more time to work on the game, since priorities at home ended up taking over, but I had fun and got to make a game, so I still came out all right. 04308B88-58DF-4D2E-B52E-27E404832B73.png Play it at https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/49/$261745

It's a pretty good theme, but could be better. I'm begging

Welcome to the Machine

Excited for another Ludum Dare! I'll probably end up using Unity for this jam, so I'll lose out on some indie cred, but I've only spent about 3 days total in Godot, and I like web exports, and I like C#. Jams are about having fun and making a good game, anyway, and I can do both of those better in Unity.

Besides that, I'll be going with the usual lineup of GIMP, Blender, Audacity, OpenMPT, etc. Good luck to all in the jam!skull.gif

Progress for the first day

It's not much yet, but this (strangely Minecraft-looking) prototype should be a fully-FUNctional puzzle platformer by the end of tomorrow! And I've scheduled out all day to work on it, unlike... many other jams. https://youtu.be/u9JNYhBLUWg

All Done!!

This LD was a blast, and it definitely came down to the wire. Honestly, this is probably the first time I've had fun designing levels for a puzzle game. mondobe.itch.io/zippy

Joined on a whim, made a fun game!

I don't know where I saw that the jam was going on (probably on Bluesky), but, even though the second day was almost over, I said, "Why not give it a try?" And I'm glad I did! I came up with the idea of a bat carrying things around in a cave pretty early.

Originally, the game was going to be about a bat in the "depths" of being broke who has to sell his furniture to pay rent, but then I realized, "Oh my goodness. That's depressing." So I came up with the bat-and-mouse idea instead.

The physics puzzle platformer is a genre I'm familiar with from other game jams. It's so easy to iterate and experiment with this type of game - combine that with Godot, and it's a dream come true. This was my first game jam using Godot besides a one-hour jam hosted by my school, and I have no complaints.
