Mutate? Exterminate! Update
So quite a bit has happened since my first post yesterday. The enemy genetics system is now almost fully implemented. There are 3 enemy abilities, red, green and blue attacks. Which one they have is based on their colour. Ie. Red dominant enemies have red attacks etc. They can, however, have multiple attacks, so an enemy that is a mixture of red and green will have both abilities (if they are dominant enough in those channels). This system also introduces “Purebred” enemies. These are the much larger, white enemies. These enemies are dominant in all three colour channels, and will have all the 3 attacks. The colours are determined on the parents colours, so a red and green parent will mutate into a yellow child, with a small amount of mutation variance. This variance is what will lead to Purebreeds. In the opposite end of the spectrum (literally), dull colours (not dominant in any channel) will not have any of the 3 attacks. Purebred enemies can only mutate with other purebred enemies. They are a bit of an elitist like that. Any non-purebred can breed with any other non-purebred.
I’m also working on something I’ve called the “Devolver” (bad Revolver pun) that will remove certain genetic traits from an enemy. So this ability will allow you to “devolve” a purebred (or any other enemy for that matter) by removing their dominance in a certain colour channel, making them less powerful (by removing that attack).
For those wondering, the Adult Only signs are the circles mutating with each other..didn’t want to show off any graphic content.
