BEHOLD!
This most recent mini ld has gotten me fired up for the next COMPO. So I’m pleased to announce to a whole host of amazing people that I will be attempting this latest game jam.
This most recent mini ld has gotten me fired up for the next COMPO. So I’m pleased to announce to a whole host of amazing people that I will be attempting this latest game jam.
I decided on a kind of rogue-like-styled-50s-movie-ish-game and I’ve got most of the basics programmed in. I’m going to work on my Godzilla artwork for a little bit before getting back on this tomorrow morning. And then there were screenshots:

I give you Burden. This is a game set in the 1950s where a man fails to save another man’s life. From there you will have to play the game for yourself. As of right now, it’s unclear whether this will be in the compo or the jam, but it will go into one of them.

It’s done! Burden is officially completed. With minimal technicals in the graphics and length of game, it meets the requirements nicely. Try it here and find out what the story is. Thanks to all who compete and vote and especially to the whole Ludum Dare community for such a fun time.
Things I’m happy with:
1) The overall game itself – It just FEELS good
2) The art-style – I REALLY liked using the minimalist theme to do the visuals
3) The quality of the game itself – probably goes with number one, but to me, it’s something else. It plays like a triple A game. Well, at least from MY perspective it does.
4) The story – I actually came up with the story by accident.
Things I am unhappy with:
1) The length of the game – It feels too short for the type of game it is.
2) The timing – Since I didn’t have enough time to properly test and retest, I felt like the timing was a bit off.
3) The lack of features – Just me, but I felt like with some more time, it could have some interesting game mechanics.
