Ludum Dare 45

LDJam45

First LD since graduating from my master's program and having free time back in my life! Looking forward to learning and hacking away.

Last LDs were #27 and #36. I'll be utilizing Unreal Engine and live streaming here: https://uecasts.com/live

First day is in the bag!

Been learning a lot and been making decent progress. I have my spline and railroad track layout working and will be working on attaching the locomotive and rail cars to the track and to each other tomorrow. Then it will be writing the logic to determine velocity and gforces acting on the vehicle.

I'll be live streaming again tomorrow 9am PST at https://www.uecasts.com/live

Are you ready to ride the Rickity Rails?

When you successfully get the passengers to their destination compared to when you're going to have quite the delay.

Dog character basics are up and running!

The dog now has a cycling of idle animations as well as a bark feature to get your attention. https://youtu.be/MRZIs5BQ9Qc

I did not make the dog asset. You can find the artist here: https://www.unrealengine.com/marketplace/en-US/product/retriever-dog

Mascota Joy

Having issues with AI detecting other actors properly. My game is a simple game of fetch with humans best friend. The theme comes from keeping the dream alive of getting to visit my dog whom lives with my parents once self isolation can be relaxed more. This game will also hopefully help my SO's youngest sister whom suffers from speech apraxia and loves dogs but hasn't been able to have one of her own. Now she can play fetch with her virtual pal.

Here is a nice walk cycle that I learned how to do during LD46. Note I didn't make the character nor the animations. I learned how to build blend shapes for animations in Unreal Engine. https://youtu.be/neQ5NHF5U8I

Mascota Fetch

Holy crap was AI harder to get working than I thought it would be. I've been learning a ton and I know have human's best friend playing fetch and the player can throw the ball. You can actually throw multiple tennis balls!

Off to bed for the night. Been a great day of learning how Unreal Engine works and all the nuances that come with it.

Hoping for Spooky Vibes

Leaning towards something that wouldn't be considered a true "game" and a bit more of a tool. Best of luck to everyone.

I'll be using:
* C++
* Unreal Engine
* Maya
* Photoshop

For anyone using Unreal Engine, I've made cheat sheets here:
C++ Cheat Sheet
Blueprint Cheat Sheet

Best of luck to everyone! Excited to see what everyone makes.
