Day one in space

So the best outcome I could have wished for has happened so far. I have something that I have made, that works (to completion) and I don't hate as of yet. Running on less than 3 hours sleep since Thursday night, and I feel good about this. Now it's time to crash.

So in my slumber, look at all that space - http://pic.twitter.com/V3tLSWotFv

Experience the adventure of 'Space Pow Collins'

I'm just under half way to reaching 20, if you want to make a little boys dream come true then please play 'Space Pow Collins' the text adventure game.

Still looking for the last few votes

As the title says, I'm still hoping to reach 20 and I'm not that far off it now and it would be amazing to reach it before the time is up. It's a text adventure game that can be found here, https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/38/space-pow-collins. I'm also looking for any feedback or critique that will help me grow for the future.

Finally, best of luck to everyone tomorrow :grinning:

This jam was different...

In this jam I decided (for absolutely no reason at all... ) to swap from making my entry in GameMaker to Unreal. This was a massive challenge not only using a new scripting system (blueprints are amazing!!!), but also going from making 2D art to 3D. The time it took to make the art was a big shock to me and wasn't something I was ready for (even if my art is still super simple haha), and even forced me to cut a lot of things that I had planned that I could have done if I was as competent as using GameMaker. Other than that it was a great learning experience and look forward to making more things in Unreal.

So I give to you 'I'm Not your President', the game where you run away and actually try to escape from your powerful position as the president of the Free Robot Notion. https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/39/im-not-your-president inyp.png

Now I have some time and have recovered from the Jam I will begin playing some of your lovelies games :grinning:

Finished and I wasn't even going to start

Work has been full on recently and I was going to take this weekend off, but I managed to join in and whip something together in a shorter time than usual. Can't wait to try everyone's entry tomorrow morning!

Jam over.

Down to the Wire... Again.

I did say this to myself a few jams ago that I wouldn't keep running it down to the wire to get reviews but here I am. I did have an excuse this time and got myself a new job between the end of the jam and the end of the rating, so I should give myself a little bit of a break.

I have played some wonderful games so far. I have been comprising a list of my top three and games that I'm sure will stay in get knocked out. It's great to see such talented people taking part in the game jams, it inspires me to keep pushing myself. I will create a post of my best three and why later.

Until then, if you have a spare moment and could throw some time into rating mine it would be highly appreciated. It will also send me in your direction to play and rate your games too. If you have any recommendations for your favourite games I would love to see them linked also!

I'm in, lets do this :D

I have an extended weekend booked off work to get a compo done and recover. Looking to move away from making something in Unreal this time and back to the old days of working in GameMaker. I might throw that idea out of the window when the theme is announced. Anyway, lets go!

It was a tough one, but I got there.

Although there might be a few bugs still in there and I didn't get to make a boss fight, I'm really happy with what I got out of this Compo. Hope everyone had or is still having fun. Can't wait to start playing the entries in the morning after some long deserved sleep.

I made a trailer!

infestedemtrailer/emgif.gif

Not something I usually do with my jams but I made a trailer that is available on my game page. I wanted to do a bunch of different things outside of the jam and its been a fun learning experience. Hope you enjoy!

Back to playing peoples entries now.

Kepler-186F - Walkthrough

I always need some time to separate myself from the event to decompress from what I put into it. So upon my return I bring a playthrough of my entry Kepler-186f.

I learnt a lot this Jam, with my first time creating an active enemy pawn that would attack the player. While not the most perfect enemy ai its something I can use again in the future as I grow and adapt my skills. Reflecting on my entry, I did what I often do and lean heavy into the level design aspects of the game and this time I went a little overboard. This is something I need to not lean into as heavily in the future. With 5 Ludum Dares left, lets see how much that changes.

Now its time to dive into some of your entries.
