There is nothing wrong with your television set

The Wren Pirates are big fans of interactive fiction, so this week I learned a lot about Twine (and maybe some JavaScript by default). In real life, WrenCorsair can draw; I use Photoshop/Illustrator for a lot of my professional work; and we threw all of that away to bring you a text game. Hopefully, the splash graphic reminds you of simpler times when bits were 8 and text was all you got. We promise that your actions in the first half determine your fate in the latter. It’s safe for work or while waiting for public transit, btw. (Looks just as good on mobile!) We have a little woulda-coulda and maybe some shoulda, but we hope you enjoy meeting Trish and her friends.*

Who's got text games?

For our first jam with Indie Speed Run, a few years back, the Wren Pirates spent so much time on graphics that we only completed about six pages of our visual novel. For this, our first Ludum Dare, we took the opposite tack with an all-text interactive story. What other Inform, Twine, and Ren’Py games did y’all make or play for LD42? What engines should we try next?

So far, I’ve played and enjoyed Crowded Dungeon, Bardolf’s Curse (URL without the apostrophe), and the poignant Unfamiliar.
