LD23

I do believe I’m in…

Hi there!

I hope someone can read what I’m posting here, WordPress is too complicated for me -.-

Anyway, I’m going to participate on LD23, which will be my first LD, and I thought it would be nice to announce that someone of the other programmers may infect with the “Against-every-standards-code”-virus.

So, what I’m gonna use to create a more-or-less good game is:

Programming: Java using AWT or LWJGL

Graphics: GIMP

Sounds: sfxr/ Frinika for music

Well, I hope this compo will bring me new experiences and blah blah…….

I’m in!(Is that correct? I’m in?……)

Looking good enough, don’t worry m8 :)

Heh, looks like you got it figured out.

Progress

I was busy with making sandviches, but now I can show you how ugly my graphics are:

These potatoe-like thingsare suposed to be parts of something destroyed. They look better when they are flying around the menu, but it’s only a screenshot :)

Maybe I should learn drawing…

Now I have to put together the scripting engine and make a story that fits to the theme AND my intention.

It broke my heart…

Bluescreen and TADAHHH! Leveleditor gone :(

I am sorry for your loss.

Editor V.2

After the damage of one of my blue friends, the leveleditor is finally restored 😀

Now it’s time to work on the game mechanics…

Isaac Gates and Tiny/Microsoft

After a round of playing Half-Life, my protagonist looked different than I wanted him to look like, but this design is much better than the older one.

I think  I will name him “Isaac Gates”, because he reminds me of William Gates. He is working on some mega-scientefic shrinking experiment to create micro-soft(ware).

That should fit into the theme…

Great interpretation of the theme, and I find the micro-soft(ware) Pun hilarious. 😛

FScript implementation

Thanks to FScript, my game engine is now fully scriptable. The possibilities are endless!

Tempus fugit…

It seems like I won’t get finished today. Let’s say that was intended and I’ll post it as a Jam entry. Maybe I should also try to sleep…

What I’ve learned…

6 hours left and still at work. Well’ now I have a super-dynamic scriptable, flexible and extendable game engine, but no game. I hope I will make it better in 4 months. Let’s see if I can glue some test levels together to make at least a simple game. If that doesn’t work, I will have to put a nice “TO BE CONTINUED…”-message at the end of the 50 seconds-lasting game that is ready so far.

Tinysoft, Half a game for twice the work

My sadly fail on my first LD. But I should think positive. Others only need to waste 40 seconds of their life to test my game 😀

Also you can be impressed by this nearly complete game engine with an unfinished game. Now It’s time to sleep. My eyes hurt….

Play Tinysoft here.

LD24

I’m in

My second Ludum Dare. As of the fail of the last competition, I will reuse much of the old code so I can focus on game design, rather then trying to reinvent the wheel.

My tools are the same as in the last LD:

Programming language: Java

Libraries: Just plain AWT, slightly changed parts of my LD 23 game

Graphics: GIMP

Sounds/Music: sfxr/LMMS

If you’re reusing parts of your previous entry, you will need to enter the jam unless you publish the code under an open license.

My library of utilities

Thanks to Henry McLaughlin for reminding me that I have to post the source of code I previously created under an open license.

I put together everything I’m going to reuse in the compo. Feel free to use the library. And if you do not want to, you don’t even have to give credit to me. The dowload link is here.

I may also use FScript by Murlen, found here, or JOrbis, found here, but I’m not sure if I have to use them. Depends on the theme 😉

Your will be done

I think this game will go in the direction of a Supremacy-Clone. Just with more evolution 😉

Bad graphics, still no name

I’m making progress in the game mechanics, but my dog could make better graphics than these. (But as of the rules of LD compo I have to work alone). The second worst thing is that I still don’t have a name the game. I hope I will find one until compo ends…

Finished!

Finally, I’m done with this horrible game. Well, I finished It in less then 48 hours. Much better then last time.

I’m going to sleep now. I’ve never wanted to sleep so damn much…

LD25

Im in!

My third LD. I hope this time I will realize that it is nearly impossible to keep my game dynamic before it is to late to really finish my game.

I’m goint to use the same tools as everytime:

Programming language: Java

Libraries: Maybe old code from LD 23(for Jam)

Graphics: GIMP

Sounds/Music: sfxr/LMMS

Adding polish…

Now, that everything technical works, I started to design the game. Just too sad that these walls are the best pixel arts I’ve ever done.

Some progress in character design

unnamedvillain

This time, my characters look pretty awesome!(For my standards). I hope this nameless guy will also look as good in the game. He may not look like a villain, but at least he thinks he is one. More about that in the game 😀

Sequels…

004

Never make sequels of previous entries. This never turns out well. And I’m not even finished right now. -.-

LD26

I’m in (finally)

This will be my fourth LD. I’m going to join the jam.

Programming: Java

Libraries: Just plain AWT and a framework I put together

Graphics: GIMP

Sounds/Music: sfxr/LMMS
