LD28

You only get one…

Well, interesting theme, thou i think i voted it out (just like the last two times…)

My first approach is probably not the one most people will go, but it isn’t totally unique either…

But screw it, going through with it. More information after i have slept thou!

LD32 and where to go

So, i sorely miss taking part in the last LDs. My last one dating back to being LD27.

But, i told myself, not again. I’m not going to shy away anymore. But to make sure, I announce that I am in way before, like.. right now. Already took the 20th Off from work, and it’s time to get back into the game. It’s roughly a month left, enough time to prepare.

Maybe this time i will actually produce something i’m proud of. We shall see. See you all in 37 days, stay coding!

I’m in – again

So, i think i will be in again. I was pondering on wether or not, and i thought, what the heck, i’ll do it. Sadly, my Rust skills are not good enough to actually be working with it, so I will again use HTML5/JS with the Impact Engine and the Impact++ library. Writing will be done with SublimeText, drawings with Gimp (i think. Maybe i will grab a month of Photoshop, be we will see).

Have fun and see you at the weekend!

Status Update

So, as i said, i was in on this LudumDare. And even if i had some trouble to figure out what game i wanted to do at first, I got a pretty good idea of where to go from here.

First couple of hours have been rough, had to get back into the engine and JavaScript since i haven’t done lots of it in the past.

So, right now, after ~6 hours, i have most of the proposed mechanics down. Still lacking 1-2 along the way but those won’t be an issue.

After that it’s mostly Art + Sound and a general polishing. And maybe adding some procedural generation.

For now, this is how it looks.

ss+(2015-04-18+at+03.01.42)

Not looking like much, cause it’s just my mechanics testing dummy level. But i’m content with the stuff i got so far.

So, 12 hours to go.

Well, i’m basically done. Game is working as intended, some loading could be optimized but i can’t really deal with that right now…

Well, what do i really need to do? Draw my characters… aside from that, I’m pretty much done.
Spent the last hour on revamping the soundfiles, adding additional decorations.. stuff like that.

So.. while i go to shower for now, have a Music Track!

Sunday night, 21:51 and I submitted.

May game is not pretty. It’s feature list is hilariously overhyped.
And yet i submitted it right now.

I didn’t really feel it. I need a artist the next time.. i think. Maybe then i would be better, but doing all the art stuff totally sucked the life out of me.
Still, the game is done and i even forced myself to do more than one level so.. yay me!

Good luck and have fun to everyone else still going, looking forward to all of your games, sorry to make you suffer through mine!

Well Well Well.

I set out the last few Ludum Dares. Like I always do. Life just gets in the way of things. But since I really, really want to get back in, I will forsake the Magic PreRelease next weekend. I am so in. Feeling hyped for the next Ludum Dare and hope that I can make yet another mediocre game.

I will most likely use Godot as an Engine and whatever Open Source Tools available under Linux to work with.

Normally we would always have a Ludum Dare Party with a couple of friends. Which is always fun. But due to certain circumstances, I will work from my own appartement this time. In my fortress of solitude.

Now to get back to working with Godot.

Well, there goes my favourite Theme

Really hoped for "Normal Jobs but in Space" - but sadly that one is out already. Well, we have to just take what we get, right ;-)

Anyhow, my tools are all set up, got my new Laptop up and running, Godot setup as well as the Mono Dev Environment, Git as well as all tools for Art and Music Creation set up on my iPad. So I'm ready to go!

Edit: Oh yeah, preparation will actually consist of a MTG Midnight Pre-Release of the new set. So this should be interesting!

Well...

Hm. Not quite sure what to do with this theme. Kinda of not really enthusiastic about it. I don't like that the "Your" is included - kinda limits it too much imho.

But hey, MTG Pre-Release was great, even though I only got like 3 hours of sleep last night.

Well, that’s it I guess.

I am out for this LD. I just can’t motivate myself to keep working ont the game due to personal problems and issues. I will therefor stop working but wish you all the best, hope you will have some smashing hits.

I'm in as well - let's hope things turn out better than last time.

Working from home, not from my usual jam environment, so we will see how that turns out.

Nevertheless, I'll probably be working with Godot again and drawing my art on my iPad using Procreate. And then we will just have to see what else - maybe i'll hook up my piano to the PC to get some sounds from there, but who knows.

Looking forward to a great weekend and seeing all your great games!

Guess i'm out

Got an idea and a prototype for that idea, but my migraine is really hurting my concentration. There is not much to do when you can't solve simple problems, so Day 1 is gone.

Dunno if i will work on the concept tomorrow, but with only half the time, i guess this one is a failure.

Day 1 over - very productive and fun day

To be honest, at first I was not too keen on the theme (which seems to be a recurring theme for me). But with some working I have grown fond of the theme.

So now, roughly 15 Hours after starting (we decided to not start at midnight) I am pretty proud of what I have achieved so far - I can’t remember any compo where my game was this „good“ after just 1 day.

Maybe it’s because it is a pretty basic concept (even if some ot the maths have thrown me for a loop a couple of times) - but I’m looking forward to do a bit more gameplay development tomorrow and then polish some more!

You can find some gameplay (although that was 2 hours ago) over on Twitter: https://twitter.com/xatulu_/status/1312511682879528960?s=21

And Submitted - now to drive home!

Just hit publish on my game "SpaceLoop Defender". It's a Wave-based Shooter where you got to defend a Planet and the SpaceLoop surrounding it - while resucing people that flee from the planet.

Gameplay is pretty straightforward, no big twists - you shoot the right things or let them evaporate against your shield and collect the points. You lose when the planet blows up - but your score is submitted to the server and showcased on the Leaderboard.

Hope all of you had as much fun as I had, even though I have to work in 7 hours and still have an hour drive ahead of me ;-)

Reached 20!

Got to 20, thank you for rating! :-)

Thanks in advance!

Ludum Dare 48

Time to start rating some games - Hit me up if you need ratings!

So, i'll probably not hit my needed ratings as I'm way too late to the party. And hey, my game is not really noteworthy and just a stupid "clicker". The Corona Shot was kicking my ass all the way to Sunday and I was happy I at least was able to "finish" something.

However, even if I don't hit the 20 votes, I want to make sure that you guys get yours. So drop me a comment down below and I'd be happy to play your game and write down my thoughts on your game - gonna do that all night!
