Breakfast: done! Game: not yet!
We're hanging out in person at Brad's house for LD44: so far we've been for breakfast, picked our idea, and started making some basic assets! Good luck everyone :)

Starting to shape! Golf with coins where each shot reduces a coin's value by 1, and you must complete holes with the highest total remaining coin value: coins can bounce each other around, and we're gonna be adding some obstacles that you can only buy your way past with a high enough value coin.

Why the name? It's like GOLD and GOLF cobined. With an umlaut for no particular reason. PREPARE TO GÖLDF!

A: When you're recording your SFX, of course!
Naming our game "Göldf" made it look like the name of an IKEA product, so we decided to fully embrace that with our splash screen ;)

We've got 3 playable levels now, time to BUNKER down and DRIVE out a few more next!
Woohoo, we made it! Super proud of our effort this time round: see if you can beat the whole GÖLDF course (there are 12 holes)! Browser version available, plus Windows and MacOS builds - take your pick! And if you manage to clear every hole, let us know your score ;)

Played 10 games tonight - thought I'd call out a couple of my favourites!

This is a short but sweet puzzle game with lovely atmospheric sound and a really interesting puzzle mechanic. The levels are well-designed to introduce the tricks, and I enjoyed playing through them all. A brief but enjoyable experience!

Pick up white triangles that become resource to summon troops, which swarm around your commander ("the priestess"). You must avoid enemies whilst encouraging your troops towards them to attack. The game has an interesting consistent aesthetic, and the levels were good fun - even having to try some a few times was enjoyable!

I'll feature more good games in blogs as I come across them :) And please check out my team's game - it's playable in a browser :) https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/goldf

Didn't play as many games today, but I did come across one that was rather good, and I'll mention one of yesterday's games that I screwed up the link to again too!

Think like the levels on Super Meat Boy where you're running away from a boss. But, y'know, not quite that polished, this was a 72 hour jam after all ;D Welcome has some neat elements, like the platforms randomly generating from a set of options, and is worth a few plays unti you get the whole way through. A short but sweet gameplay experience! My biggest gripe, like with many of the games I'm playing, was that the nod to the theme is quite a cursory one! Seems like a really tough one to get right this time round! Still, worth a play if you want a fun short platformer and don't mind too much about super-clever theming ;)

Mentioned this one yesterday but screwed up the link so I'll mention it again! A short, charming puzzle game with a clever mechanic I really enjoyed and just a few levels but satisfying nonetheless - lovely sound design too! Still my overall favourite of the games I've played so far - let's keep playing to see who can topple it!
And again, I'll end by asking folks to give my team's game a try if you have time! Find it here: https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/44/goldf
