Ludum Dare 46

Local Multiplayer in Ludum Dare

This is my first Ludum Dare and I entered it with a keyboard sharing, local multiplayer game. During development I thought this would be great, I love playing with others, especially during something so community driven as game jams. However I went on to find that everyone is playing my game solo instead.

Does local multiplayer just not work in Ludum Dare? Perhaps it's because it's online based and since I entered compo, I probably get a lot of compo solo devs. Or maybe it's the lockdown and many are limited in the pals they have around, maybe it was just bad timing.

What do you think? I'm unsure if local multiplayer is the best approach in this jam, as much of a fan as I am.

Here's my game, I can fit 12 players on my keyboard albeit it's not comfortable and people press each others buttons even at lower numbers, haha. But it's intended to be silly and fun and create play outside of just the screen. gif2.gif https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/46/runrunrunrun
