I'm going to join! :D
I wasn't going to join because I thought I didn't have the energy/time. But I woke up feeling very eager to join, so here I am! Very excited and inspired. Now I just need to come up with a concept..

I think lot of people goes for a mining style of the game. I don't want to be different so there is my mining guy

So got a couple more fishes now. Still need quite a few more to make it interesting. But they can follow and chase each other, so that's a big step.
Now more more game play since the mechanics are coming together.
I know... some animations are missing. Art can wait.
Making good progress of the prototype so far :)
(The imp shouldn't go through the elevator of course, this will be implemented next :P )

The characters represent my first reaction of the theme reveal, honestly.
But whatever, let's see what we can do with that! :)
Work 3h on movement to have something similar to old Pokémon games. Needed the help of a friend because I made an overcomplicated system. Went to sleep after 3h30 hours of harsh programming at 6h30 (France), woke up at 9h, spoke a bit with friends that were at my place that night, shower, breakfeast, and I can resume. Now I gotta deal with collisions and then with a simple camera... Hope it'll be done for noon. I suck at programming, even on GMS 2.
Starting off with a snake-like creature that moves around and shoots. Pickups make you longer! Trying to make a twin-stick shooter type thing where you go deeper and deeper underwater and fight progressively scarier creatures. Took too long to get IK working for this but at least now I can reuse the heck out of it for enemies lol. Also struggling with how to make this guy not look like a sperm
Still continuing to make sense of our inception design, and adding some lovely graphics (thanks to @zaktage and Draw.IO)
Hoping to start really tightening up the game controls tomorrow, while @zaktage continues the awesome work with the level designs. Working title in mind, we might even get some basic UI running as well \o/

Now it's time to clear up, try make a list for tomorrow, and get ready to do this all again
Not sorry! Having a lot of fun with the jam already. Good luck everyone, looking forward to playing and rating! :D

After a few hours I have implemented random cave generation(using Cellular Automaton and Unity Tilemaps) and a player character. Next up is enemies...

Why, you're asking ? And why not ?

Now, what could this little boy and his inconveniently long paw do to ruin your day ?

This jam begun 3 am here in Sweden so I am feeling a bit behind but finally came up with an initial idea that felt fun enough to start working on.
Battery + Gun = Shoot.
Imagining some kind of Starfox 64 type of shooter.

JÖRD coming to a Ikeö near you! ☜(˚▽˚)☞
I'm still brainstorming the theme, but in the mean time I've made progress on coding. Level loader and display working. Starting on character control. Probably going for a platformery type of thing set underground.
I'm going to take a break to ponder and pin down some definite ideas for the game.🤔

I have a general idea about the game and maybe a bit of story if i can and have time to implement it, but i'm stuck on the game mechanics, which means i can't make maps, whick means i can't really do much.. to anyone with the same problem, i'll just relax, write a google docs about the story and a bit of backstory to know what each character can do and hope that everything comes to my mind..whispers but first i have to make sprites for my character..
And here we go! Still a little sleepy (European time zones make this a different flavor of start, I think) but determined to get this going. The theme was definitely not among my favorites, but I quickly settled on a game idea. Definitely not one of the more original ones, it's just gonna be about a little submarine going on an adventure. However, I like the idea of spending as little time as possible on drafting up ideas, and just getting to work, as I will have a lot to look up and learn on the fly. Plus, I love Subnautica, so maybe that will give me some additional inspiration along the way.

Look at this beautiful, and hopefully very temporary, sprite. Although I can totally see myself running out of time in the end and sticking with these glorious pieces of art...
TIME TO GO DEEPER!
The last time we participated in this combination:

was Ludum Dare 33 with this game: https://whoisnoahgames.itch.io/doom-death-destruction-tycoon
Let's hope we got better in the meantime.
Have fun everyone!
so i'm making a resource management game. drill the earth for gems

1 day, 16 hours left.
I wanted to make my game from scratch... so after finishing the backend code, it's finally working. I added the player and some enemies.

Woke up at 3AM Paris time to do my first Ludum Dare by myself, starting with a first hour of early-morning brainstorming...
It has been 8 hours of game dev, now let's do some game art !
Can't wait to share some elements very soon...
