This is Stas, our pride
If you haven't played yet, check out my entry. And while votes are nice, what I'm really looking for are some ideas for how to give the player a bit more control and remove some of the dumb luck (not all of it, but some). I'd like to stay away from a mechanic that brings it any closer to Minesweeper than it already is. Thanks in advance!

We've made it!

Done by @mimbladora, @lishiana and @zozol!
I started off this weekend thinking I couldn't partake this year. Family, jobs, life, plumbing.... I figured, even if I lost major sleep, I could only squeeze out a few hours. Would that be enough, I wondered?
On a hope/whim, I signed up for LD50 ten minutes before it started, and went back to irl.
I'm a huge fan of the Minetest LPGL Voxel Game/Engine, and been around it for a couple years now. Some of the Devs in that community were/are competing, but everyone said Minetest was a bad choice for the Game Jam.
I told them they're wrong, and basically said it makes game making easy, and you could make a good submission in no time at all, and probably rank in the top 50% of games. One challenge later and well.... Okay I'll lose a few hours of sleep.
Inner thoughts
Okay, game is up on github, I think I have it wrapped up well for windows... hopefully. How am I going to hide basically all of minetest so the user just enjoys my game???..... Oh I'll just toss *the entire engine in a game_data folder*... that'll work...
Now, It needs a theme song... Let's see what I have from High school.... Ah, this should do. Tosses sound into game Yep, nailed it.
Okay let's go check the... HOLY MOLY the countdown timer says I have 10 minutes for the JAM???!?? I thought we had until Monday????!?!!
frantic typing, clicking, and general agony with slow internet
Okay it's published, quick let's write up a readme.... Wait.
That countdown timer now says 17 hours....
...
...
Sigh, Javascript+Browsers+LD bugs strike again. I wish someone would make those counters work right when the browser window stays open for ~40 some odd hours...
Well, the game is "done"! Let's type up a guide, and hopefully someone tries the really awesome multiplayer mode.
So yeah I made a fun, quick game with full multiplayer support using the Minetest Voxel Game Engine you've probably never heard about, in ~3 hours.
Hopefully you have as much fun playing as I did in playtesting (especially being 3 different players at once - that's a challenge, haha):

It's a space shooter shmup that you can rate here!

Howdy fellow game devs! Me and my team finally published our LD50 game The Last Church.
When we got the theme we pretty quickly came to the conclusion that we wanted to make a classic tower defense game, on one part it might sound boring, but on another it felt just right. We are all great fans of the genre, and on the last couple of jams we've wanted to push our games to a more polished state more than being innovative (guess it goes a bit in waves really).
The Last Church title was blatantly borrowed from our favorite Warhammer 40k novelette, and our game is just as grim in it's prospects. You are the caretaker of the last church standing whilst the rest of the earth has been devoured by all the demons of hell, they have their eyes set straight on your gate, and it's up to you to stop the onslaught as long as you can, though in the end, it's just Delaying the Inevitable
I've heard from our most hardened caretakers that you can reach wave 14, myself have only reached wave 7 as of yet, but I will try my best to come further than level 10
Here a crazy in-game shot when things are looking really sweaty

Now it's time for me and the team to have a really long rest before we roll up our sleeves and start playing all the amazing games that have been made during this here very fine LD edition! And a very big happy anniversary at that!
Chainsaw Cheers from ol' man Sawtan!
And then another Ludum Dare has come to an end. Please try out our game!

Hi everyone, hope your games are going well!
I just finished up my narrative game for this jam: just drive! It's about moving on in life, and working through all the thoughts in your head.
If you have the time and would like to play / rate it, I'd love to get some feedback on it and see what people think.
I definitely learned a lot of things this time around, and am excited to see what everyone else has made!

Wow, what a journey.
This was my first ludum dare and also my first gamejam. In the beginning, I thought 72h is too short and it means no sleep or rest. But it turns out fine. I finished the game in time and I'm really proud of myself.
It 4:30am in my place so I really need to get some sleep now lol.

https://ldjam.com/events/ludum-dare/50/catch-the-phone My game's link is here. You are certainly welcome to play. If you played my game, please leave a comment below so that I will be able to play your game in exchange! And of course feel free to give me any advise or criticism!
Came back after 3 skipped Ludum Dare's, with more experience, and we're going to publish our new game, "Bombfall", in a few hours for this 20 year anniversary!
Just doing the last improvements to make the most of the time that remains :)
