Crop Rotation is a pure drafting game. If you played Luck be a landlord, you will know what that is :) If not here is the genre in a nutshell.

Drafting game usually involve you drafting your deck or cards or whatever the game decide to call it. After that, the game will have a system that simulates, be it combat, or in the case of Luck be a landlord, Slot machine. Usually there will be a failure criteria - pay rent, or in some case combat. After each round, you get to choose more cards to add to your deck and repeat.

Drafting genre is an interesting one and Crop Rotation is a take on the genre using a farming simulation. If you had never play a game in this genre, as a game designer you owe it to yourself to try one. Why not start with Crop Rotation :).

Also, initially I didn't have time to figure out the sweet spot as to "How long a critter needs to stay in patch" to affect a player's life? Your suggestion and other ideas for improving the game are highly appreciated

On day 2, we spent at least 30 minutes on proving why a certain level we wanted to include was not solvable! :grin: (But an adapted version is now in the game as level 10, Other Side.)

So after initially wanting to make an entry for the compo, I ran into a lot of issues building the game and getting it to run so in the end (and because I had work the next day) I decided to take the extra time and release a jam game. Unfortunately, even then people still reported that they couldn't start the game!

I think I have now finally fixed the issues (I used an incorrect GLSL version in the shaders - whoops) and it seems like the game is working properly. The game is really just a test of my physics code I wrote over the Christmas holidays. If you have time, please give it a try and let me know how you got on

...Ain't that they are fast to produce, but that you can put so little detail in them, that you never need to draw proper concept art. These scribbles are more than enough, any better would be waste.

Btw, notice 10 blocks tall tower. With post jam graphics I'm going to break more aggressively that Wolf 3D mold I made most graphics to fit.
