Ludum Dare 54 September 29–October 2, 2023

Inspiration

Please consider checking out @PixelProphecy! I'm referencing him in my #ludumdare project because of how pivotal his work was in inspiring me to do game jams. screenshot.png

Some visual progress!

You play as a barbaric space lady who wrecks havock on a prison spaceship. You'll use the limited space of the cage you're trapped in to fight your captors! image-02.png

Day 1 progress / notes

It's a story about some limited space... in an infinite maze, with you - a green doughnut and an antagonist (or is he?!) - an evil rubber duck.

Size will be configurable and there will be notes, hopefully configured levels - so that you can seek out the correct way!!

More to come tomorrow!

All is pure HTML, CSS and JavaScript (with the help of my architectural tool for rapid TypeScript coding), called obs-disp. https://aweskybear.github.io/obs-disp

lmao im definitely not finishing this in time

maybe trying to write a visual novel as a programmer was not the brightest idea. i really underestimated how much work this would take

Late, but here we are!

Hello, everyone! My partner @decipator and I are a bit late for the jam, but here we are now! We have this idea about timetable management. There is a lot of event to do, but a limited space in the agenda to do them all. It is a drag-and-drop mechanic (just drag the event box and drop it at the agenda). The events have different time sizes and there are some goals to complete during the week.

However, we are struggling to understand how to create rewards for the player after planning the week. I hope we can find a solution soon!! There is a mockup about how we are planning our game:

Day one wrapped (in tentacles)!

Our game has FUNKY COLORS as you can play it in THREE DEEE using CHROMA DEPTH GLASSES!

Some update before bed

Capture d’écran du 2023-09-30 23-02-55.png Progress have been made, but I took more time than expected on the animation for transition between views.

Still a lot to do ... I hope tomorrow will be productive.

Limited Space in Space

Good job for the first day!

Gravity took me longer than expected.

Time to bed now :lastquartermoonwithface:

End of day one

I've made progress! The core game is functional and I've found a style I can live with. I would have liked being further along but that's the way it always goes. Looking forward to finishing this game tomorrow. ld54_progress.png

First day done

The game is shaping up nicely. Next we'll implement statistics and taxation and add graphics, UI etc.

A laborious experience

One full day in, I worked on the game for almost 10 hours, and I only fear one thing: not being able to code my game as I want to. But after a really quick rest, with better ideas, I was refilled with energy and found other solutions. With the game almost working, and the sprites almost done, I go to sleep.
