finally slaughtered the themes!

I have some great ideas if my preferred themes win!

This article is pretty old, but I think all the information is still very relevant. It's the best-written instructions I've seen on the subject, so I refer back to it whenever I need a refresher.
For jam games, I guess using the input system is probably overkill, but I find it to be very helpful and I'm trying to completely abandon the old input manager anyway.

I really hope we get something really wierd.

We are in!
We are a small team of 6 who recently assembled (thanks tech layoffs and boredom) to build a larger game. But we thought it would be fun to test the team out at Ludum Dare 53.
Looking forward to the Jam!

A quick twofer.
Firstly, I have a few prior commitments that will interrupt my work during the Ludum Dare 53 weekend, so I won't be able to put as much time in as usual. As such, I'm considering doing a collab this time, rather than a solo effort. I've collabed before, so I'd be happy to do it again. As a reminder, I use PICO-8 and TIC-80; my strengths are programming, small sprites, tiles, fonts, and sound effects (larger sprites and music I'm not so good at).
Secondly, I've been working on an enhanced version of my LD52 entry, Fruit Fall, named Super Fruit Fall. It now has three different game modes, each with a scoring system, as well as updated music, graphics, and sound effects. It's nearly finished and I'm hoping to release it before LD53 begins. Here's a look at the "Blitz" game mode, where you have to score as many points as possible in 90 seconds:

I'll also be gearing up for the 1st anniversary of Prism Indigo, with events including a sale, a small anniversary update, and a pinball table built in Future Pinball:

Why? Why not! I like pinball.
This ended up being a bit long, so to reiterate the important bit: I'm open to collaborating for LD53, hit me up if you're interested.

I'll be using pico-8 for this ld.
I slaughtered way more themes this time than I ever have. Whats going on people!
:stuckouttonguewinkingeye:
Finished the slaughter, I think I've been a lot harder on the themes than in previous jams. Must be getting cranky in my old age :stuckouttonguewinkingeye:

It's done !

I wish there was a query based filter for themes, as I noticed 70% of those I discard meet at least one of these criteria: - Longer than 20 characters - Contains "always", "never", "all", "vs", "is key", "is the limit", "AI" - Has been the theme of an older edition - Not starting with capital letter (Not a strict rule, but usually true in my experience)

Hello all. I uploaded my little Asteroids like game to itch.io.

I am not sure how to publish a game here. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated

Feelin' overly positive this year. This year my criterium is: "will I die when this theme would win?". Still... A lot of red when you keep that in mind  🪦

Whatever it will be, don't forget that The Theme Always Sucks ++

I'm learning Godot. I'm working with @save-our-sunken-ship
As much as I like the freedom we have now, I would appreciate to slaughter only 1/3 of the usual numbers. Slaughtering nearly 3k themes is just waaay to much imho. So I suggest having only one theme per one registered member.
Here are some arguments why I think having less themes is better:
1) You focus more on each theme and actually think about it, instead of just rushing fast in order to manage all themes slaughtering in time.
2) You manage to actually get them all. In my 16 LD events history, I think there wasn't a single time I actually managed to vote for ALL the themes. And that sucks. Imagine how many good themes you miss, simply because you get lost in the sea of thousands of themes. I wish I had the time, but it is quite time demanding.
3) Less duplicates...

Hi all, I’m a video game composer from Seattle looking to join a team for LD53. I produce music in several genres including synthwave, funk, metal, and orchestral music. I’ve worked on several game jams, creating music inspired by The Legend of Zelda and Deus Ex, and including tracks for beautiful ambience and high-energy combat scenes. Check out my portfolio below, and please reach out if you would like me to make music for your game!
