Only just came back from a trip to Macedonia and feeling excited about LDjam. Fuelled by new experience and filled to the brim with new memories.

This time however our team decided to change our Modus Operandi and each of us is making their own game. Idealy finishing in time for the Compo. It's going to be way different than usual. At least fro me it's going to be a big change since I'm kinda used to driving my own lane - music and sound design. Let's see what new lesson I'll learn from all this.

I'm also excited about some new Godot 4 features (especially regarding sound)

This years tools:

Engine: Godot 4

Music: Cubase 10 (with loads of plugins I accumulated over the time)

Art: Krita or Aseprite (but I might stick to an art-light game since it's not my forté)

Because of the whole "bot-situation" you probably haven't had much incentive to post over here. Which is a shame, because more seasoned LDers love to play your games too! So, if you are new, please comment on this post. Then I will put you on my "to play list" :-)

Also, here are some tips :-)

• You are the most important this weekend, so take care of yourself (drink/eat enough, sleep enough, use a good chair, etc)
• Be aware of 'feature creep', a good way to do that is to plan something that should take half of the weekend to create. After that is done, and there is more time, you could add some extra features.
• Make sure the game is easy for you to play: you know the mechanics very well as you are the designer. For other players it should be harder to play, as they did not spend an entire weekend to design it :-)

8,5 hours 'til jam, I think it's time to state my participation. This year I really need not only to finish a game but also to make a good devlog on it, for I am determined to turn it into my diploma project. For that simple goal I will be using:

• for most of the things — Unity

• for music-like thingies — BeepBox

• for SFX — phone mic

• for graphics — Sketchbook

• for animations — Adobe After Effects

• for my soul — lots of green tea

For me LD53 starts at 4 in the morning and it would be splendid not to lose any time, for the day after tomorrow I will be attending my dearest aunt's birthday celebration, which would take place from dawn to dusk. So every precious moment counts!

That will be all. I shall part to my bedchambers. The fight begins in the morrow.

In the past, I've often entered game jams with grand aspirations and lofty goals, only to find myself overwhelmed and unable to finish my projects. For this upcoming jam, I plan to take a different approach and create something straightforward and manageable, leaving me with extra time to spare.

I'm glad I've been doing text adventures lately, as those are pretty easy to set up, and I can brainstorm the text while at work. Here's to a 4-8 hour compo game though, it will be a fight to the bitter end, but I will have some consolation from the trusty tools at my side:
