For the first time I’ve created a game in 48 hours that I am actually proud of. Please enjoy Minimalismia! I learned a lot from this and I now have a kick-@$$ RPG engine should I ever want to make one that is more complex in the future. Overall a fantastic weekend!
DFTBA!

And here’s the traditional post-Ludum-Dare pie.

Wow… That was a lot of fun! I got a reasonable amount of sleep, but still ended getting stuck in a “depth first” trap on both Saturday and Sunday. Sunday’s involved a mechanic of removing dead branches if the user clicked on them. I spent a couple of hours trying to refactor enough code to get it to work, and ended up only with better looking code, without any extra functionality.
Saturday was a similar issue, I spent way too long monkeying about with branch construction rules and how the state of the board should be represented given perlinspiel’s constraints.
I’m really happy with the way BONSAI turned out and I’m glad that I switched to Perlinspiel from ImpactJS. I still really like ImpactJS, but the constraint of a 32×32 grid for the game really focused my efforts on the theme at hand.
If anyone wants to check out the backlog for the game, I’ve left the pivotal tracker page for this project open:

Anyways, We’re all tired! So congrats to everyone who entered! Get some rest and enjoy a week or three playing with the entries! You’ve earned it!

Well I finally finished my first LD. That was intense and I feel like throwing up, but nonetheless pleased.
If you get the chance, go play it or something: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-26/?action=preview&uid=13474
My game Mondritron: 2026 is finally done!
Check it out here: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-26/?action=preview&uid=17685
I finished my first Ludum Dare! My game is called One By One, it’s a puzzle game with one type of piece and one rule. Try it out!
You slide the pieces in the bottom board to match the pattern in the top board.
Hey there!
Day 2’s theme was technical issues, everything from Photoshop refusing to save by blaming non-existing memory issues to GameMaker acting up in several irrational ways. But we survived, and have learnt something from it, hopefully.
In the meanwhile, here are a few gifs we compiled together with the miniboss variations and the characters animations.
.

We plan to have all the assets implemented into the game by the end of the day including the boss (basic concept below). Which will leave ability tweaking and menu screens/buttons for our last half day.
Don’t forget you can check out our streams! Here for some coding/gamemakering, and for art here!
Cheers guys!
TEAM MISCHIEF
FreeFall has been developed in 24hours with Unity Game Engine, to be honest, I had a first idea but I didn’t like it as much as I like this one so I deleted the old idea and just started with this idea, so there could be some confusion at the start (because I didn’t have time to do a tutorial level) and some lack of working on the main menu or the interface in general
Convining 2D and 3D aspects it has given to my little game a
cool look (I think :3).
The game: You are in control of a guy with a WingSuit. You have two options:
a) Fall down in your way and just don’t worry about checkpoints and time, and arrive to the goal without risk.
b) Fall down going through checkpoints and caring about your time AND try to arrive to the goal WITH risk.
— There are 15 Checkpoints, and it is really difficult to go through all 15, but at least, if you accomplish it you will get AN AWESOME RANK! CONTROLS —
*\– ARROW KEYS –/*
Up – Boost (Increases your fall speed).
Left & Right – Rotates and moves a little the character.
*\– OTHER KEYS –/*
R – Restart the fall.
SPACE – Open the Parachute (if you don’t open it before you hit the ground you will die and the fall will be restarted! So keep an eye where are you falling, and don’t open it so soon, it will be boring if you do it, trust me!)

So put on your WingSuit and try FreeFall!
This is the first LD I’ve completed since LD21. I’d missed or given up in the middle of the last few, and despite not being very happy with my final product, it feels awesome to have completed it.
Ever since I started my CS degree I’ve ended up forsaking a lot of random side projects and things like Ludum Dare for schoolwork, and it feels awesome to get back into it now that I’m in my last quarter and done caring.
Just finalized my submission, and cracked a beer, cheers!
Sorry for the caps, but seriously, people — if you write a post about your game, it would be GREAT if you provided a link to it so that I can play!

and….
=)
and pics!
Whew, finished my game. Only got to really work on it last night and today, but still pleased with it. Definitely fits my style. I wanted to build a web game that was mostly built on story, but Twine seemed too limited for what I wanted to do, so I decided to roll my own, so to speak.
Time for Ascension! is a text based game built with HTML, Javascript and JQuery. Actually, I use TypeScript code to generate the Javascript.
It should work on all computers, tablets and phones with a modern web browser.
I believe it fits the minimalism theme because 1) it is a text-based game and has no graphics or sound and 2) the design of the game is based on a simple event queue – it is incredibly simple.
Limited testing, but I was able to verify a win condition.
You are Danial Gibson, a software genius and billionaire who is trying to save mankind from a deadly plague.
Can you make the Ascension and become Mankind’s savior?
If you like science fiction stories, give it a shot.
This is my first time entering the competition. I had a lot of fun putting this game together and will definitely do this again.

8PM over here. Haven’t eaten anything since waking up, sheesh.
It’s great to be done. Yeah, would have been nice if I had the time to get one or two more features in…can think of a lot of things I would want to add, but it’s totally fine. Totally fine.
Anyways, here’s Minimalist MAYHEM:
http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-26/?action=preview&uid=7285

Try it. It’s pretty awesome. And come on, how can you not try a game called Minimalist MAYHEM? Especially with a title screen like that???
Anyways, get some rest, everyone. We’ll wait until we recuperate (and until the LD servers recuperate) for now.
And of course, good luck to everyone who’s still toiling away in the jam. You can do it!

I’ve spent all night on this Ludum Dare. I do realize now that I had to share the library I made a few weeks earlier, before I started this project. Here it is. http://ploppz.com/LD26/source/essential/game/
Please don’t kill me.
So I didn’t even know I was going to be able to participate in this Ludum Dare because of other things going on, but I knew I’d be travelling all day on Sunday and I happened to get an idea for a very small game on Saturday night.
My entry was created over the course of 8 hours and involved traveling through four states, on three different types of trains and one bus!
I am so glad the theme was one which supported a heavily constrained timeline.
Use the left and right arrow keys to avoid the blocks!
You can play Squeezed Out in your web browser and it has online leaderboards if you’re into competition with other players.
Here is the link to the compo entry page for feedback or voting.
I came up with another game. It’s better than the first one.
Note: This is a real 2600 game, which means you’ll need a real 2600 emulator like Stella to play it.
