TEN 2nds – Try to make 10 runners get the SECOND place at the same time!

Hello everyone!

Here is our game, “TEN 2nds”. This is my second LD, but the first that I’ve made together with my wife. It was a great experience for both of us!

So we tried to think outside the box: instead of using 10 seconds of time, we went on a different way. What if you could control a race in order to get TEN runners to cross the goal together at the SECOND place?
So this is your simple objective! By clicking on the runners and changing their speeds, you have to align them to get as close as you can to TEN SECOND places. Your score is based on the accumulated time that you deviate from that objective. So, try to get lowest score possible. Aim at zero!

We liked very much to make this game. It is specially fun to play it on a tablet browser (such as an iPad). We made it with Construct 2 (but with a persistent Best Score). Below is the link to play the web version. We also made an iPad and an Android version, which we are going to make avaliable as soon as we squash a little bug…

Play it, and if you like it, please vote!

Core 10

Hello! This is our first ludum dare and we ended the game just about time… our game is called Core 10, it’s all about strategy, velocity and where you set your shields of course, all this will make your fate… Tell me, how long can you survive?

For all the details about the game check our entry: http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-27/?action=preview&uid=27344

10 Seconds of Relativity

Hey!

Here is our entry to the Jam: 10 Seconds of Relativity

10SecondsofRelativity

10 Seconds of Relativity is a short FPS about the speed of time. Each level is 10 seconds but the perception of the 10 seconds depends on what you are doing. The game is relatively simple: Kill the boss robot in the tuxedo before time runs out!

Controls:

W,A,S,D to moveSpace to jump
Left mouse button to attack ranged
Middle mouse button to attack melee

Who we are?

We are a team of two developers, who decided to find some time to join Ludum Dare. One of us has a background in visuals and programming, the other has a background in sound and programming. The game is much shorter than we would like it to be due to other obligations.

Technology:

The game uses Unity (C#), there is usage of iTween for Unity.

Please play our game, tell us what you think! There are web, win, mac and linux versions available.

Game submitted finally.

Followup of my last post, the game has been uploaded and is Here. Feedback is welcome. Trouble working on macs, not sure why, will fix that in post mortem.

great job all, was a very nice experience at my first LD, many thanks dev’s and artists o/

A Fine Postemus Mortemus of ‘De Bomb Da Bomb’….

So happy to have got it all done in time!

Check out the game here>>>> http://www.ludumdare.com/compo/ludum-dare-27/?action=preview&uid=19384

SO ANYWAY…….

I managed to squeeze out some pixel art goodness and a superfunkypants soundtrack and squished it in-between some tasty action puzzle gameplay. By pure accident the ‘Mechanic’ pixel character is a dead ringer for Damon Albarn!?!  not intentional but a plus for Blur fans i guess!

GOOD: Tactical gameplay implimented just as i’d hoped too.

Pixel Art + Soundtrack have good balance and fit the idea well

BAD:    A few minor bugs but nothing totally game breaking (i think/hope!?!?!)

lacking animation on characters, should point in right directions!

Needs loads more levels and variation etc. with time it may happen…

UGLY:  My poor Dried up, tired old eyeballs, strictly no monitors/tv screens tommorow if possible…

As far as I know, Dropbox doesn’t let you host a webpage on it. However, I’m not exactly the expert, either.

Factory Wars is done!

We had a load of fun this time around. It’s probably my favourite of the five games I’ve entered into the jam so far. We hope you like it too. :)

Factory Wars is a “tug of war” type RTS game where you control factory production and set lanes for your robots to follow. Spawns and income are on a ten second timer and you can capture flags to increase your income.

Play and rate here!

You guys and your factories. I loved Slime Factory from LD26, so I’m looking forward to this one, for sure. :)

Done! I’m gonna go sleep for the rest of my life now… Kay?

After 3 days I’m finally finished. ¬,¬ I’m going to sle…  -.-<zzz)

My game turned out quite good and I learned a tonne of neat stuff. I’l probably do a postmortem tomorrow or the day after but for now here’s a link and screenshot.

Time Rupture – Final

We did all we could but the time hit us so hard that we couldn’t even add and polish some parts which were already planned.

Although it is our first entry in Ludum Dare, I would want even more of it, but who would’t? That is good though I think, you should always try to put yourself up the limit and leave your comfort zone as some people like to say.

Mistakes were done and now looking back at it, even though it was just 3 days we already learnt a lot, and that is the whole point isn’t it.

If I can sum up, as first experience in Ludum Dare – I like it a lot and the best part is that, even though some bits of the development felt like hitting your head in a brick wall, we got the most of it and learnt a lot. I started to repeat myself a bit, but you can only see the important part that way. 😛

Anywho I will leave you here with a few screenshots of our game and a link so you can try it out.

Postmortem: Survive

Well this was the first time I managed to finish my submission to a LD so time for a small short postmortem 😛

Since the beginning I was planning on submitting for Jam since my weekend was somewhat crowded and I really wanted to get my first submission out.

What went right:

  • Knowledge of my limitations: This was a must I knew what I could and couldn’t do by myself and thus kept the project within that scope. I knew I should not go for fancy graphics since I’m not an artist and so I refrained myself to focus on that area.
  • Time planning: By starting this with the Jam in mind I was able to get the game submitted even with the problems that showed up during the weekend.
  • Thinking mechanics: The moment I decided to think about mechanics and incorporate the theme allowed me to start coding the game and it also started forming an identity.

What went wrong:

  • Knowledge of my limitations: Although it did help me narrow down my workload when I started the brainstorming the theme I always second guessed myself. This made me lose almost half a day only with brainstorming.
  • Sound: I was planning on having sound effects on the game however due to the issues during brainstorming I had to simplify the project and sound was the first to go.
  • Meteor: This was the third “enemy” in the game that due to project cut for time could not be completed and would have given a better feel of the gameplay since it would cut down sections of the screen where the player would not be able to move to for a short time.
  • Time planning: Although I have a plan for this weekend, I haven’t planned each project goals (brainstorming, sketching, coding, testing) and their time consumption. This made me lost a lot of time trying to do 2 or even 3 of those at the same time, forcing me to cut the project down. Especially if I had brainstormed properly I might have been able to get the game out in Compo and not Jam.

In all I am happy with my submission, will keep working on it for a while gathering feedback. Enjoyed my time with the project and learned a lot about time planning.

So go and play my game and leave a comment with feedback ^^ Thank you!
