LD32 April 17–20, 2015

Almost missed it!

I knew ludum dare was around the corner but i was 4 days away from missing it :O I AM IN!

Tools:

Unity 5 free
Blender
Photoshop cs3
Fl Studio

Cant wait to see the games line up! Hopefully some rouge like survivals 😉 haha

No more rooms

Oh, i did really love to see the ‘One room’ theme winning. It sounds pretty awesome to me ^_^

Hint

Happy voting and have fun warming up!

We are in :)

ArenaFighterZ is in again. There’s so many of us, that maybe we’ll make two teams. Or maybe we won’t finish anything (just the menu, like we did in LD29 xD), but it’ll be a big fun, gathering together, and hacking through the days 😀

As for me I’d like to use LibGDX, so we could easily develop for Android too. For GFX we’ll use GIMP, Inkscape and some pixelart tools. For SFX I prefer sfxr, but we’ll have around 2 midi controllers, two guitars, and maybe other instruments as well 😀

If other tools (e.g. map editor) are in need, we’ll try to develop them on the go :)

I’m already really hyped about this jam 😀 Loved the votable themes so far 😉

Just a couple of questions regarding tutorials

Hi all, I plan on doing my second attempt at Ludum Dare Compo, and I am wondering if it is ok to use this tutorial:

http://www.microbasic.net/tutorials/shadow-mapping/Home.html

It is used with Libgdx (At the moment libgdx by default can not do multiple lights with dynamic shadows and this tutorial makes it possible)

Should I make a separate blog post which lists the things (tutorials, programs etc.) I am planning to use?

During the compo do I have to do the tutorial from scratch? Or can I just use the completed one I have already done?

Thanks.

Unity Builder Tool

I’ve been asked to release my builder tool for unity. With Unity Builder Tool (UBT) you can choose all your build target platforms and build them with a single click. So if you are planing to release your LD entry on Windows, Linux, Mac and Web you do not have to go through the building process all over again for every build.

In addition to improving the build procedure I added a versioning system. So you do not override old builds. The version string is accessible during runtime so you can print out this info for your players.

Download UBT here.

If you have question, ideas for improvement and/or found a bug please contact me.

Have fun with it! And good luck for LD 32!

I’m in! :D

Hi!

I’m back again!

I liked “entire game on one screen” theme and I hope this time it will be good again.

I’ll join the Jam alone, using Construct 2, Paint.Net and a not-yet-defined sound software.

4 day to go. Cya! ;D

Real World Gathering Germany

There will be a LD real world gathering in Nürnberg germany. The location is Coworking.

Meetup-Group

Best,

I’m ready

Looking forward to a weekend of LD again.

I think I might go back to my LD roots of using Haxe for this one.

Graphics will most likely be made with Photoshop CC and Paint.Net. Music depends on how the game turns out, but either FL Studio, Musagi or Sunvox. Sounds, I guess Sfxr, I tried recording my own sounds last time, but some didn’t think it fit the game well enough.

Best of luck, and remember to get some sleep during the competition 😉

Obligatory I’m in post!

Awww yeahhh, Ludum Dare HYPE!

Gonna be doing a first this time around.

Making a game jam game with someone else for once, as opposed to making them solo, which is going to be awesome fun!

Looking like I’ll be keeping to my familiar pipeline for getting bits done, that’d be:

  • Unity
  • Photoshop
  • Flash
  • Audacity
  • SFXR
  • Milkshape 3D

Possibly might use Blender if I can find the time to boost that skill up this week. I do like the speed of modelling low-poly stuff in Milkshape but it’s fairly old and not as flexible so, we’ll see.

I think this will be my 5th or even 6th Ludum Dare now, roll on this weekend!

[edit] Oh my. It’s actually number 7, crikey! [/edit]

Entry Ticket

As part of the admission price, here are my Tools.

I’m in

Hi!

I’ll be using Drystal, my game engine. It will be my first time using the livecoding feature, it should be fun!
I would also like to use my animation library, but we’ll see…

Happy LudumDare everyone!

I’m back

I had a streak, it was good, it was long (11 games, never missed a single LD since my first).

Then came my masters thesis, and I missed two.

So now I need to rebuild it, starting next weekend!

Tools I may or may not use, depending on needs and mood:

  • Sublime Text
  • WebStorm
  • Gimp
  • Pix2D
  • Inkscape
  • Blender
  • Chrome DevTools
  • FF DevTools
  • Audacity
  • LMMS
  • BFXR
  • Otomata
  • Tiled

Technologies I will use:

  • HTML5 – no plugins, no compilation

Technologies I may or may not use, depending on needs and mood:

  • SVG
  • WebAudio
  • Canvas
  • Three.JS
  • Playground.JS
  • Node.JS

I’m in

Tools:

Bosca Ceoli for music

Bfxr for sound effects

Haxe compiled to SWF for code

Gimp and Pixen for art

My goal for this LD is to beat my previous highest overall ranking, which was #180. For some reason I did best in the first ever LD I participated in, but after that each one after felt more like a slog and I never really enjoyed it as much and performed poorly (somewhere around #600-#800 each time).

Now I’ve studied a bit from the pros, learned some new tricks and will hopefully do better.

I switched from using Flash directly to compiling with Haxe instead, as it seems to be a better compiler. I tweaked the code-test cycle to close to minimum by using LiveReload and some glue code. Now when I write new code and save, it compiles and runs the Flash game automatically.

Here’s a Haxe minimal project and some sprite code I did as a test to warm up. Might use these as a base.

Still to rehearse before the compo starts:

  • Playing sound effects w/ Haxe
  • More pixel art / sketching practice
  • Try to make a passable song (something that is better than silence)
  • Make a simple walk cycle

I’m in!

Hey everyone, I’m in for Ludum Dare 32. As usual, my friend Matt and I will be partaking in the Jam using the following tools:

  • Unity 5
  • Visual Studio
  • Pickle
  • BFXR or SFXR

This will be our third Ludum Dare, and we’re hoping it’ll be our most successful yet. We had some success in Ludum Dare 31 with Enter the Murderdome, and we’re hoping to continue that trend and make an even better game this time around.

I look forward to playing your games, and hope you all have a fun weekend!

^^Hell yeah!

I am in!

My second Ludum Dare . Hopefully  this time I will have enough time to participate in the Compo. I will be using:

  • Godot or LibGDX.
  • GIMP for 2D graphics and textures.
  • Blender if I end doing anything in 3D.

I had a lot of fun in the previous one so I’m looking forward to this weekend!

Tools,Foods and stuff

Yeah so I gonna stay up all night(hopefully) at the start!:|
so the tools:

Inkscape,GraphicSgale,paint and other online tools.

Music?Fl or Magic music maker.

Game maker 8 for ultimate success!

yeah so some chips, snackz, soda, tea, sugar, other shit things AND ENERGY!

Though none of the snacks are done:| maybe on the start day?.I have practiced a lot of coding like lightning and stuff but still have no idea what the theme will be.So no sprites yet.

So yeah

So yeah

I’m In for Jam

This will be my fourth jam. I’m not a great programmer. But I’ve spent a lot of time making games relatively from scratch in Flash, meaning using no frameworks beyond the base program.

I am determined to submit this time, so I will not be trying to innovate with the mechanic. I want to make a good looking game with a few complete levels.

My not-so-illustrious history in Ludum Dare thus far:

LD31 theme “all on one screen” I thought of a twist on SPACE INVADERS / CENTIPEDE but then switched it to another point-and-click. Decided fairly early on this time not to submit and to turn this game into a real thing. Here’s what it got to with a bit more dev http://wdnky.com/games/Gestalt/

LD30 theme “connected worlds” attempted point-and-click graphical adventure for the first time, using actionscript 2 and Flash. Did not submit (started late and slept too much and picked a new game type) . http://wdnky.com/games/ga1/

LD29 theme “under the surface” I submitted a barely complete side-scrolling swimming/diving game with a flood/drain mechanic. http://wdnky.com/games/hyperhydrosis/

Im in!!

Im going to destroy a little bit more my social life and make a game using:

Gimp 2.6

Audacity

Ableton live 9 (Demo! YEAH!) Processing My first Ludum Dare. Awsome!

“Hey” post

Hey there! Im in.
